Method of making an integrated display device

A glass-to-glass seal with an intervening layer of metal oxide is made using a frit containing a high lead content and a metallic nucleating agent. The metal oxide may optionally be used to provide conductive paths through the seal without embedded metallic conductors.

A fluorescent display has phosphor coated electrodes selectably electronically excited into an illuminated condition. A foraminous screen controls illumination of the electrodes. An embodiment of the invention with a linear array of anodes and an analog-to-digital power supply forms a linear scale indicator. A method of assembly is also disclosed.

Fluorescent indicator and method of making same

A vacuum fluorescent display has a filament heated below incandescence and phosphor coated anodes. A foraminous charge-control electrostatic lens between the filament and the viewer both controls uniform illumination of the anodes and also comprises part of a contrast-enhancement element. Finely divided carbon in emulsion in an organic silicate is silk screened onto a substrate to form conductive elements for a fluorescent display device which, when baked, provides a willing host surface upon which a phosphor coating is applied.
