Pluggable connector including a connector housing having a leading end configured to mate with a receptacle assembly. The connector housing has an interior cavity. The pluggable connector also includes a communication assembly held by the connector housing. The communication assembly includes internal electronics located within the interior cavity, and a mating terminal located proximate to the leading end. The mating terminal is communicatively coupled to the internal electronics. The pluggable connector also includes a thermal-transfer assembly that is disposed within the interior cavity. The thermal-transfer assembly includes first and second thermal-transfer modules that each include a plurality of spaced-apart projections. The corresponding projections of the first and second thermal-transfer modules are interleaved with one another. The first thermal-transfer module is coupled to the internal electronics, and the second thermal-transfer module is coupled to the connector housing.

An optical interposer comprising: (a) a crystalline substrate having a top planar surface and a crystalline plane angle; (b) a groove defined in the top planar surface and extending from an edge of the substrate to a terminal end, the groove having side walls and a first facet at the terminal end, the facet having a first angle relative to the top planar surface, the first angle being about the crystalline plane angle, the first angle having a delta from 45&#xb0;; (c) a reflective coating on the first facet; and (d) an optical conduit having an optical axis and an end face optically coupled with the first facet, the end face having a second angle with respect to the optical axis such that the angle of refraction at the end face compensates for the delta such that the end face and the first facet cooperate to bend light about 90&#xb0;.

An interposer comprising a plurality of optical conduits, each having an optical axis, a substrate defining a plurality of grooves having a terminal end, each optical conduit being disposed in a single groove, and a common angled surface traversing two or more of the grooves at the terminal end, at least a portion of the angled surface proximate the optical axes of the optical conduits in the two or more grooves is reflective, and one or more optical components disposed above the angled surface, the optical components and the optical conduits being optically coupled by the angled surface.

Optical interposer

An optical interposer for optically coupling light between an OED supported on a substrate and an optical fiber, the interposer comprising: (a) an interposer of an optically-clear moldable material comprising at least the following features: (b) a port for receiving a ferrule containing at least one optical fiber, the port comprising an interface surface positioned to optically couple with an end face of the optical fiber; (c) an active lens adapted to optically couple with an OED, the active lens and the interface surface optically coupled along an optical path in the interposer; (d) a protrusion extending backward from the port, the protrusion defining a first register surface, the first register surface being a certain distance from the optical path such that, when a second register surface of a ferrule containing the optical fiber contacts the first register surface, the ferrule is aligned with the port such that the port can receive a front portion of the ferrule if the ferrule is pushed forward.

A body is configured for alignment to a substrate having an alignment feature. The body includes an alignment structure defining a viewing surface, and a dedicated lens adapted to focus an image of the substrate's alignment feature through an optically-clear material of the body and onto the viewing surface. In the fiber optic context, a lens body is provided for optically coupling a substrate's OED to a corresponding optical fiber. The lens body further includes at least one active lens adapted to cooperate optically with a respective OED. The dedicated lens is positioned externally to any optical path. An optical subassembly includes a substrate having at least one perceptible alignment feature provided in a predetermined spatial relationship to the OED, and a lens body secured to the substrate such that the image of the substrate's alignment feature appears aligned relative to the viewing surface.

A network outlet fixture providing wall-mounted LAN jacks. The fixture may include an in-wall power supply and be configured for mounting within a conventional multi-gang wall box. The power supply may be directly connected to an adjacent wall outlet, which serves as a power source, in the same or an adjacent wall box. The fixture may include both network switching and fiber-to-copper media converter functionality. The fixture may be configured to disconnect the power source upon removal of a face plate of the fixture. Further, the fixture may be configured to allow mounting of the jack-supporting structure in any one of several different positions relative to a remainder of the outlet fixture. This allows for presentation of the LAN jacks in a certain preferred orientation while permitting the remainder of the outlet fixture to be mounted in several different orientations relative to a wall.

Transceiver circuitry ( ) for use in a GBIC module uses readily available off the shelf components to satisfy the specifications of the GBIC standard. In both passive and active modules, a voltage divider ( ) and parallel transistors ( ) are utilized to insure that the differential voltage of the received differential signal is at an acceptable level. In active modules, a diode cross over quad ( ) is utilized to extend the input range of a low input differential receiver ( ) and a coaxial cable driver ( ) designed to drive 50 ohms is utilized to drive 150 ohms.

A power supply circuit for providing a DC output signal from an AC input signal by (1) coupling an AC source to the DC output terminal and to a capacitor when the AC input signal is within a preselected AC voltage range thereby providing power to the DC output terminal while charging the capacitor, and (2) uncoupling the AC source from the DC output terminal and the capacitor when the AC input signal is outside of the preselected voltage range, thereby relying on the capacitor to provide power to the DC output terminal.

A generating circuit for producing a linear ramp output voltage comprises an electronic switch and a ramp circuit connected to the electronic switch. The ramp circuit includes a single active component having first and second input terminals and an output terminal. The ramp circuit has positive and negative feedback to the input terminals of the active component.

Current regulator circuits using electrical feedback to stabilize the bias currents of semiconductor laser diodes are disclosed. In these electrical feedback circuits laser diode current is sensed with negative-temperature-coefficient resistance to develop voltages which are compared to zero-temperature-coefficient voltages for generating error signals, and these error signals regulate the emission from the laser diode against changes with temperature.
