A method and system for correlating a route with an external Wi-Fi network connection is disclosed herein. The aspects disclosed herein include generating information about the correlation, and employing the correlation for network operations, such as, communicating a file (or files), allowing communication from a vehicle, and/or performing routine updates via a vehicle.

Correlating a route with a network operation

A method for selectively providing traffic information to a user without requiring the user to constantly monitor radio broadcasts is disclosed. The method comprises the steps of: determining at least one area of interest including a plurality of latitudinal and longitudinal coordinates; receiving traffic data including information related to a plurality of traffic events; parsing the traffic data for any of the traffic events located within at least one area of interest; and outputting a traffic event message to an output device if the latitudinal and longitudinal location of the related traffic event is located within the at least one area of interest.

Programmable route specific dynamic traffic warning system with segmentation identifiers

A system and method for providing a user with traffic information. The system generally includes a processor, traffic and location antennas in communication with the processor, a traffic location table database in communication with the processor, and a memory unit in communication with the processor and having processor executable instructions. The method includes the steps of saving a set of locations, determining at least one area of interest, receiving the traffic message and outputting the traffic message to an output device if the traffic location is located within the at least one area of interest.

Programmable route specific dynamic traffic warning system

An audio entertainment system having a primary circuit board with a processor in communication with an antenna input, an audio output and a connector. The processor is configured to detect the presence of the digital audio circuit board and to output an audio signal to the audio output based on the wireless signal. Telematics application for implementation in conjunction with a satellite broadcast delivery system

Saturation of an RF front end in a radio receiver is prevented when receiving a desired radio broadcast signal via an antenna in the presence of a strong, undesired radio broadcast signal within a passband of the RF front end. An antenna signal from the antenna is coupled to the RF front end, thereby generating an amplified signal. The radio receiver demodulates the desired radio broadcast signal in response to the amplified signal, thereby generating a demodulated signal. A signal-to-noise quality parameter of the demodulated signal is determined. The antenna signal is attenuated prior to coupling it to the RF front end by an attenuation determined in response to the signal-to-noise quality parameter.

RF AGC amplifier system for satellite/terrestrial radio receiver

A method of controlling an antenna signal combiner in a vehicle having multiple antenna elements, a navigational system and a receiver comprising the steps of receiving signals from at least one transmitter, determining first position coordinates of the vehicle using the navigational system, determining second position coordinates of the at least one transmitter, and combining signals from the multiple antenna elements to steer an antenna beam from the first position coordinates to the second position coordinates.

Antenna beam steering responsive to receiver and broadcast transmitter

An active antenna power interface circuit couples a supply voltage from a radio receiver to an antenna feed. The circuit comprises a DC power input and a power switching element connected in series between the DC power input and the antenna feed. The power switching element has a control input for selecting a conducting state or a nonconducting state of the power switching element. A high side voltage sensor senses a first voltage proportional to a voltage at the DC power input. A low side voltage sensor senses a second voltage proportional to a voltage at the antenna feed. A controller is coupled to the control input and to the voltage sensors. The controller places the power switching element into the conducting state, samples the first and second voltages, calculates a voltage difference in response to the first and second voltages, compares the voltage difference to an upper limit and a lower limit. If the voltage difference is greater than the upper limit then the controller signals a short-circuit fault. If the voltage difference is less than the lower limit then the controller signals an open-circuit fault.
