An apparatus and methods that use trusted platform modules (TPM) to perform integrity measurements of multiple subsystems are disclosed. The state of platform configuration registers (PCRs) after boot up are stored as the base state of the system. In another embodiment, and application that is to be verified requests that its state be extended from the base state of the system. When such a request is received, the state of the system is extended directly from the base state PCR contents and not from the system state. In another embodiment, a virtual PCR is used, where such a virtual PCR uses a larger memory space than a conventional TPM provides for a physical PCR, by use of encrypted storage on external, protected memory.

Apparatus and method for performing trusted computing integrity measurement reporting

A method and system for enhancing flow of behavior metrics and evaluating security of a node are described. Instead of sending behavior metrics from a trustee node to a trustor node, the trustor node sends an evaluation function to the trustee node. The trustee node performs security evaluation and sends a result to the trustor node. Alternatively, the trustee node and the trustor node may send behavior metrics and an evaluation function to a trusted broker, respectively. The trusted broker evaluates the security of the trustee node using the evaluation function and the behavior metrics, and sends a security evaluation result to the trustor node and the trustee node. There may be multiple trusted brokers. The behavior metrics may be accumulated by each node as the behavior metrics flow downstream. The nodes may submit behavior metrics to an intermediary periodically and may be accumulated by intermediaries.

Method and system for enhancing flow of behavior metrics and evaluation of security of a node

An embodiment is related to a database system for protecting data privacy and efficient organization of data. An enhanced database system comprises a DBMS, a data classifier, a database of applications and a rules and policy unit. The DBMS includes a query processor for processing a query from a user. The rules and policy unit outputs a pointer to a node within the data classification tree based on several criteria. In accordance with another embodiment, a DBMS residing within a communication network organizes data related to the ID of mobile users. In accordance with another embodiment, an enhanced database system comprises a DRM user agent and a DBMS. The DRM user agent receives a CO protected by DRM. The DBMS stores the CO and controls access to the CO based on restrictions specified in an RO associated with the CO.

Techniques for database structure and management

A method and system for performing trust evaluation for a mobile software agent on a trusted computing platform are disclosed. A sending entity, which includes a mobile software agent, verifies if a receiving entity is trustworthy before transferring the mobile software agent to the receiving entity. The receiving entity may verify the state and details of the mobile software agent and/or the state of the sending entity, and receive the mobile software agent if the state of the mobile software agent and the sending entity are trustworthy. The mobile software agent may include its own virtual trusted platform module (TPM) which is tied to an agent's identity. The agent's virtual TPM is part of the agent and transferred along with the mobile code when the mobile code is transferred.

Trust evaluation for a mobile software agent on a trusted computing platform

A method and apparatus for protecting and authenticating wirelessly transmitted digital information using numerous techniques. The apparatus may be a wireless orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) communication system, a base station, a wireless transmit/receive unit (WTRU), a transmitter, a receiver and/or an integrated circuit (IC). The wireless OFDM communication system includes a transmitter which steganographically embeds digital information in an OFDM communication signal and wirelessly transmits the OFDM communication signal. The system further includes a receiver which receives the OFDM communication signal and extracts the steganographically embedded digital information from the received OFDM communication signal.

Tokens/keys are produced for wireless communications. These tokens/keys are used for watermarks, signature insertion, encryption and other uses. In one embodiment, contextual information is used to generate tokens/keys. The tokens/keys may be derived directly from the contextual information. The contextual information may be used in conjunction with other information to derive the tokens/keys. Tokens/keys may be exchanged between transmit/receive units. The exchange of these tokens/keys may be encrypted.

Tokens/keys for wireless communications

Signals encoded with watermark information are generated and broadcast into a protected area for capture by illicit recording devices along with their intended targets. An illicit recording in which at least a portion of the broadcast watermark signals are recorded is obtained and correlated with a known position of the broadcast watermark signals to yield the location of illicit recording devices. In an alternate embodiment, a surveillance device, being image and time synchronized with a signal broadcasting device, monitors and records the protected area. Illicit recordings containing the broadcast watermark are obtained and correlated with corresponding recordings taken by the surveillance device to identify the location of illicit recording devices. In an alternate embodiment, the surveillance device further monitors the quality of the broadcast watermark signals and adjusts them accordingly to achieve a desired quality level.
