Aspects of the present disclosure include a bottom rail for a double panel window shading having opposing first and second panels coupled by a plurality of vanes. The bottom rail may include a body, a first connection point on the body coupled to the first panel, and a second connection point on the body coupled to the second panel. A weight distribution of the body may cause a center of gravity of the bottom rail to be on a side of a plane through the first connection point and the second connection point opposing the body. The bottom rail is adjustable between an open position in which the first and second connection points exert downward tensile force on the respective panels, and a closed position in which the first connection point solely exerts downward tensile force on the first panel without the second connection point exerting downward tensile force on the second panel.

Embodiments of the present disclosure include a switching apparatus for a powered adjustment system of a window shading, wherein said switching apparatus includes: a magnetically actuated switch positioned externally to the powered adjustment system and having an on position and an off position, wherein said magnetically actuated switch actuates a drive mechanism of the powered adjustment system in the on position, the drive mechanism being configured to adjust a position of the window shading; and an alignment feature positioned on a housing for the window shading proximal to said magnetically actuated switch, said alignment feature being configured to position a magnet of a switching tool outside the housing to control the powered adjustment system by actuating said magnetically actuated switch between the on position and the off position.

A shutter-blind system for windows is provided. The system includes a plurality of rotatable parallel louvers. Each louver is rotatable about an axis offset from its center of gravity. The system further includes a resisting member coupled to a louver located at a lower end of the plurality of louvers, the center of gravity of the louvers with the offset axis pulling against the resisting member to maintain tension in the collapsible linkages. All of the louvers of the plurality of louvers are rotated in a substantially matched rotation in response to rotation of the lower louver. All of the louvers are held in position in response to the force of gravity on the offset louvers acting against the resisting member.

Interior shutter-blind for windows with stackable louvers

A shutter-blind system for windows is provided. The system includes a frame and a plurality of rotatable parallel louvers coupled within the frame. Each louver of the plurality of louvers is operatively coupled to adjacent louvers with a collapsible linkage. The system may further comprise a biasing member coupled to a first louver located at a first end of the plurality of louvers and a resisting member coupled to a second louver located at a second end of the plurality of louvers. The biasing member pulls against the resisting member to maintain tension in the collapsible linkage. According to certain embodiments, the frame elements are coupled within a window opening and trim elements are coupled to cover gaps between the frame elements and the window opening.

A window shade assembly includes a flexible shade material having a pair of non-beaded vertical edges positioned in a pair of opposed vertical side channels. A re-channeling system includes a lip to at least partially define a plane of the flexible shade material within the side channels, and a bottom rail irremovably and slidingly received in each side channel. The side channels can be two parts. A single resilient seal strip is used with the side channels to seal the flexible shade material. The seal strip can be an edge of the flexible wrapping material for the side channels.

A cord-operated window covering is provided with means for equalizing the individual lift cord lengths to maintain a horizontal and level bottom rail, while avoiding the choking danger to small children presented by exposed cord loops that can become entangled with the child. A break-away coupling of the exposed cord ends is provided in the form of a shear-loaded, separable joint that is strong when subjected to shear-type forces in normal use, but which is weak when loaded in peel or tension perpendicular to the joint, as would occur in a potentially dangerous child-entangled situation. The joint is formed by surface-modifying products applied to the opposed abutting surfaces of the individual cordlock members. Also disclosed is an embodiment that utilizes a continuous lift cord loop that is frictionally gripped by a gripper member secured to the shade. The gripper member temporarily permits the cord to slip through the gripper if the operator applies sufficient manual downward force on the higher end of a bottom rail that has lost its desired horizontal or level orientation.

A cell and method of manufacturing a cell for a multi-cell window covering is disclosed. The method includes the steps of providing a flexible material, stiffening a portion of the flexible material, and creating at least one control engagement formation and at least one control clearance formation in axially extending sections of the stiffened flexible material that will become an upper portion and a lower portion of the cell. The method is further defined by folding the flexible material to create a closed element and securing the flexible material to itself to maintain the shape of the closed element.

Method for manufacturing cells of a cellular window covering

An actuator device is provided for use in a view-through window covering having a plurality of cells. The actuator device includes at least one cooperating pair of control members including a first control member that engages an upper portion of each cell and a second control member that engages a lower portion of each cell. The cooperating pair of control members are engaged with the cells along a plane parallel to the plane of the window covering, whereby relative movement of the control members modifies the size of the space between the cells. The actuator device may also include an actuator mechanism selectively operable to create opposite movement of the first and second control members. A guide member may also be provided to transition the first and second control members from being aligned substantially perpendicular to the window covering plane to being aligned substantially parallel with the window covering plane.
