A method and system for enabling transfer of widgets across containers at runtime. According to embodiments of the present invention, a user is allowed to transfer a widget across containers at runtime, for example, moving a widget that has been deployed and operated in one widget container to another, even though the destination widget container originally does not support the widget. Specifically, the widget being transferred can keep consistency in terms of data and state before and after the transfer. Furthermore, the user can implement the cross-container transfer of widgets at runtime by, for example, convenient interaction means like a drag-and-drop operation. In this way, the user can operate and interact with Web applications in a more convenient and flexible way.

Enabling transfer of widgets across containers at runtime

A computer display layout manager that reduces the need to hand-craft the layout of application screens is able to rearrange elements according to the shape of the available area. The automated process helps interface designers create user interfaces which work well on multiple devices and in resizeable windows. The layout manager uses height for width and width for height trade-offs to resize elements. The elements of each row or column are packed and resized according to predetermined preferred sizing criteria.

Method for arranging display elements

In an exemplary embodiment, a customer, an automobile dealership, a participating financial institution, and a credit bureau may be electronically connected in a system that preferably uses the internet in order to develop and process a legal document comprising a credit application. The system thereby eliminates a paper-based process of credit approval, providing an efficient interaction between businesses and their customer.

A Web browser is used as the rendering engine for the client application. The browser is instructed to load a &ldquo;page&rdquo; (some set of instructions that eventually resolves to a sequence of HTML (HyperText Markup Language) tags which instruct the browser regarding the number/nature and layout of the controls desired) which the browser parses to produce a set of controls with the indicated containment hierarchy. These controls may contain definitions of data stores (such as the support for an XML (eXtended Markup Language) tag which produces a W3C compliant DOM (Docunent Object Model) with built-in parsing for XML documents) which may either locally define their data or cause the browser to request the data from a server on the network. Preferably, the browser then passes control to a data binding agent which will examine the controls for specification of desired data binding(s).

Display elements are designed to answer element size queries by a layout manager which enable an enhanced layout manager to pack elements on the display with greater uniformity and density than is possible with the element size queries available in the state of the art. The layout manager automatically uses height-for-width and/or width-for-height trade-offs to optimally resize said elements according to the shape of the available area.

Reliable and secure transmission of information over the Internet is provided in a financial transaction processing system. The system electronically integrates data captured in heterogeneous information systems and transmits that data reliably and securely over the Internet between multiple diverse servers. The system includes at least one local computer system which electronically captures information input by a user of the computer system. The local computer system can access one or more remote servers via the Internet for form a dynamically reconfigurable wide area network (WAN). The remote servers electronically transfer data to heterogeneous information systems translated into their natural communications protocol and data format.

An epitaxial conductor and a method for forming buried conductor patterns is described incorporating a layer of single crystalline silicon, a pattern formed therein such as a trench, a layer of metal silicide epitaxial formed on the bottom surface of the pattern or trench, a layer of silicon epitaxially formed thereover, and a layer of metal silicide epitaxially formed over the silicon layer. The invention overcomes the problem of twinning defects in the top surface of epitaxial silicide layers.

Formation of 3-dimensional silicon silicide structures

A structure and method are described for forming different metal silicide phases, using the same metallurgy and the same processing steps. A layer of metal is deposited on a silicon substrate and is heated to thermally convert the metal-silicon combination to a metal silicide. The metal silicide phase which forms is strongly dependent upon the dopant and doping level in the silicon substrate, for various combinations of metal and dopant. Thus, different metal silicides can be formed on different regions of the substrate in accordance with the dopant and doping levels in those different regions, even though the process steps and metallurgy are the same. These different metal silicides can be tailored for different applications, including ohmic contacts, diode barrier contacts, interconnection lines, gate contacts, and diffusion barriers.

In the practice of this disclosure, rare earth disilicide low Schottky barriers (.ltorsim.0.4 eV) are used as low resistance contacts to n-Si. Further, high resistance contacts to p-Si (Schottky barrier of .gtorsim.0.7 eV) are also available by practice of this disclosure. A method is disclosed for forming contemporaneously high (.gtorsim.0.8 eV) and low (.ltorsim.0.4 eV) energy Schottky barriers on an n-doped silicon substrate. Illustratively, the high energy Schottky barrier is formed by reacting platinum or iridium with silicon; the low energy Schottky barrier is formed by reacting a rare earth with silicon to form a disilicide. Illustratively, a double layer of Pt/on W is an effective diffusion barrier on Gd and prevents the Gd from oxidation.
