An awning assembly which is particularly suited for recreational vehicles includes a pair of telescoping support arm assemblies and a pair of folding rafter arm assemblies. A roller is rotatably supported by the support arm assemblies, and an awning is wound and unwound on the roller. Each of the telescoping support arm assemblies includes inner and outer telescoping arms and a cable which is connected to the arms and to the roller for extending the telescoping arms when the roller unwinds the awning. Each of the folding rafter arm assemblies includes a pair of pivotally connected rafter arms, a latch pin for locking the rafter arms in an extended position, and a latch release which enables the rafter arms to pivot when the awning is wound up.

A campstove burner includes a burner box which is located above the burner pan of the burner. The burner rings are positioned between the burner pan and the burner box, and a fuel and air mixture within the burner box flows through the burner rings where it is ignited. Since the burner box is located above the burner pan, liquid fuel within the burner box will flow through the burner rings and will be ignited in the burner pan outside of the burner box. The burner box includes a cylindrical sidewall which surrounds an upwardly extending cylindrical central portion of the burner pan to provide an annular mixing chamber An opening is provided in the cylindrical central portion of the burner pan, and a fuel tube extends into the cylindrical portion of the burner pan and directs fuel flow toward the opening. Fuel and air flow through the opening, and a portion of the fuel and air is deflected by the cylindrical wall of the burner box back through the opening to promote mixing.

A folding reflector for a lantern is formed from a pair of reflecting panels which are pivotally secured for pivotal movement between a folded position in which the panels are superposed and an extended position in which the panels extend in opposite directions from the pivot. When the panels are extended, the reflector can be inserted around the globe of the lantern. When the panels are folded, the reflector can be stored in the bottom of the fount of the lantern.

A fuel control system for burners such as gasoline lanterns provides automatic tip cleaning and adjustable light output. The fuel system includes a burner, a fuel tank, and a fuel conduit for supplying fuel to the burner. A valve is interposed in the fuel conduit for opening and closing fuel flow. The conduit has a fuel outlet orifice, and a tip cleaning needle is reciprocable within the conduit for cleaning the orifice. The valve and the tip cleaning needle are controlled by a rotatable control shaft which extends perpendicularly to the conduit and which includes an eccentric pin. The eccentric pin extends above a valve block into a slot in an eccentric follower. The control shaft is rotatable between an off position in which the valve is closed and the end of the tip cleaning needle is positioned in the orifice, a dim position in which the valve is on and the tip cleaning needle is positioned in the orifice, and a full on position in which the valve is open and the tip cleaning needle is withdrawn from the orifice.

Fuel control system for burners

A cup is provided adjacent the generator tube of a kerosene lantern for holding a measured amount of fuel. A wick is located in the cup for burning the fuel at a controlled rate. A foraminous housing extends around and above the wick to control the entrainment of air with the fuel from the wick during burning and to direct the resulting flame against the generator tube thereby preheating fuel in the generator tube to its vaporization temperature until the heat of combustion of fuel at the mantle causes the vaporization of fuel in the generator to be self-sustaining.

Fusible low-temperature alloy is used to secure a flanged sleeve to an adjusting stem which adjusts the tension on a spring-biased diaphragm which actuates a normally-closed valve. If a predetermined temperature is reached, the alloy melts, displacing the sleeve and removing the compressive force on the spring, thereby closing the valve.

Temperature-responsive shut-off for gas fuel regulator valve

A combination propane lantern, pressure regulator-valve, and pressurized propane fuel container in which the lantern is supported by the regulator-valve and the propane container, and the rate at which fuel is delivered to the lantern remains substantially constant and independent of pressure within the propane cylinder and ambient temperature. The lantern includes a burner assembly which extends upwardly from the base of the lantern, and the regulator-valve is connected to the burner assembly. The regulator-valve housing is provided with an internally threaded recess into which the connector fitting of the propane container is screwed, and the container thereby supports the regulator-valve and the lantern. The regulator-valve includes a rotatable adjusting knob which can be used to vary the fuel flow through the regulator-valve between fully closed and fully opened positions and therefore also serves as an on-off valve.
