Burner

A deep fryer apparatus including a gas burner for heating cooking oil. The burner includes a venturi inlet for receiving fuel and combustion air that communicates with a main chamber having an expanding cross-section. A balancing plate is disposed in a flow path of the fuel air mixture that is located intermediate the inlet and the outlet. The balancing plate defines a region of reduced cross-section in the flow path. A flame cap located at the outlet defines at least one secondary chamber between itself and the balancing plate that defines a flow path cross-section that is larger than the cross-section of the flow path at the balancing plate. The balancing plate is preferably tapered to compensate for variations in the length of the flow path due to an angled orientation between the burner inlet and the outlet.

A gas burner including a burner body having a lower housing, an inlet conduit and a combustion surface element attached to the lower housing. A diffuser/reflector positioned within the body encourages even distribution and mixing of a combustible gas/air mixture. The diffuser/reflector is preferably of a sheet metal construction and includes a plurality of stamped openings with each of these openings having an overhanging guide plate. The combustion surface element includes a plurality of integrally formed rigidizing ribs and is made from a high temperature steel alloy wire cloth. The inlet conduit is secured directly or indirectly to an access door/bulkhead that is used to close off an access opening formed in a water heater wall through which the burner is installed. In one construction, an air scoop shrouds the inlet conduit and at least partially defines a flow path of primary air, substantially isolated from the combustion chamber.

A fuel-fired water heater is shut down when a predicted steady state combustion chamber temperature is below a known threshold. The predicted steady state temperature is based on combustion chamber temperatures during heat up of the burner and appliance.

A gas burner for a gas fired heating appliance, such as a water heater. The gas burner is located within a combustion chamber and includes an inlet conduit through which combustible gas and primary air are received. An air scoop shrouds the inlet conduit and at least partially defines a flow path of primary air, substantially isolated from the combustion chamber and which extends from the inlet end of the inlet conduit to a primary air port that communicates with a source of primary air located outside the combustion chamber. The combustion chamber also includes at least one port through which secondary combustion air is admitted into the combustion chamber. A flow path transition member is located within the combustion chamber and is in fluid communication with the primary air port. The transition member also forms part of the isolated primary air flow path and sealingly engages the air scoop when the burner is installed into the combustion chamber. The transition member is provided with at least one flange that is engaged by a complementally shaped lip defined by the air scoop, as the burner is moved into its operative position through an access opening. A door or bulkhead closes off the opening through which the burner is installed and the door is adapted to mount a gas orifice through which combustible gas is discharged into the air scoop. The transition member is mounted to a base plate of the water heater and overlies a port communicating with a region below the water heater which serves as the source of primary air. The air scoop is mounted to the bulkhead/access door in a region having a predetermined profile that is unrelated to the radius of the access opening.

A frame tent system having a plurality of upright columns, a plurality of eave members, and a plurality of rafters. The plurality of members are inter-connected by a system of novel eave weldments. The eave weldment is preferably a four-way connector unit interconnecting the frame members of the tent system at major points of connection to form the frame tent system. The eave weldment is formed of a weldment plate and an insert tube disposed perpendicular to the weldment plate. The frame members of the tent system each include a channel for releasably receiving ends of the eave weldment. In particular, the channel disposed in the rafter receives a first end of the weldment plate; the channel disposed in the upright column receives a second end of the weldment plate; the channel disposed in the eave members receive an end of the insert tube thereby forming the frame tent system.

Structural support assembly

Apparatus and method for producing bends in tubes, including a bending die assembly having a fixed die section that is rigidly mounted to a support member and at least one a movable die section that is movable relative to the fixed section. When used to make &ldquo;wrinkle&rdquo; bends the die assembly includes a pair of moveable die section that are moveable relative to the fixed die section and relative to each other along a predetermined path. The movable die section or sections are supported for movement in a common plane and include camming pins engageable with slots formed in the support member, such that the engagement of the pins with the associated slots define paths of movement for the die sections. When used to make &ldquo;wrinkle&rdquo; bends, the fixed die section and movable die sections define wrinkle receiving recesses. After a bend has been made in the tube, the movable die sections move in an advancing direction and towards each other in order to disengage the inside of the bent tube and are then moved to a retracted position, in order to perform a subsequent bend step. In an alternate embodiment, the die assembly includes a fixed section and a single movable section and is intended to perform mandrel type bends. In this alternate embodiment, at the conclusion of a bending step, the movable die section is advanced and moves towards a centerline, thereby disengaging the inside of the tube and allowing the tube to be rotated about its axis in order to position another portion of the tube for a subsequent bend.

Tube bending apparatus

A gas burner produces a homogeneous mixture of gas and air in a short mixing zone by creating turbulence to promote thorough mixing. The burner includes a burner housing supporting a gas distribution tube and an air blower, the distribution tube emitting jets of gas in a radial direction and supporting a baffle plate having a plurality of openings. Air from the blower impinges on the jets of gas to form streams of gas and air that pass through the openings in the baffle plate. A diffuser ring is disposed downstream from the baffle plate and extends radially inward to form a flow constriction. The streams of gas and air contact the diffuser ring and undergo turbulence and the resulting mixture of gas and air passes through the diffuser ring and expands within the interior of a perforated combustion head. The mixture passes through the perforations and when ignited obtains combustion of nearly 100% of the gas and produces a very even flame profile. The burner is easy to manufacture and operates well at very low gas pressures.
