A fishing rod handle assembly has a forward portion for engaging one end of a rod blank, an intermediate reel seat portion to which a reel is to be fastened and a rearward portion including a butt grip. The forward and reel seat portions are positioned along a common longitudinal axis which extends through the rod blank while the butt grip is offset therefrom.

A lock fastener for a fishing reel which includes a first member formed with a threaded bore therein and adapted to engage the foot of a fishing reel and hold it in locked position on an associated fishing rod, a second member having a shank dimensioned to screw into the bore of the first member, the shank being recessed along a portion of its length and a lock member positioned between the first member and the recessed portion of the second member wherein the lock member prevents complete withdrawal of the second member from the first member but permits a limited amount of withdrawal so that the fishing reel may be readily removed from or locked onto the fishing rod.

A demountable fishing rod is formed as a single tapering tube with a thick walled central portion, the tube is cut in two at the large end of the thick walled central portion to form a butt portion and a tip portion, the thick walled central portion is sized to receive a cylindrical sleeve which is glued over the sized portion to extend rearwardly beyond the tip portion, the tapering small end of the butt portion is sized and coated with a mold release agent, the sleeve has a molding material inserted therein, and the tapered end of the butt is held in the sleeve while the molding material hardens to provide a demountable joint.
