A system for intelligent acoustic monitoring. The system includes a microphone to capture environmental acoustic data and a processor coupled to the microphone. The processor is configured to receive and perform acoustic analysis on the captured acoustic data to generate an acoustic signature, based on a result of the acoustic analysis, identify an event indicated by the acoustic signature, and perform a remedial action based on the identified event.

Systems for and methods of intelligent acoustic monitoring

A biosensor may provide a magnetoresistive (MR) film comprising a nonmagnetic layer may be sandwiched between the two ferromagnetic layers. The MR film may be positioned on a substrate, where the edges of the MR film are in contact with leads. Additionally, the leads may be in contact with pads. The sensors may provide quasi-digital readout that enable greatly enhanced sensitivity. In some embodiments, biosensors may be arranged as array of sensors. The array of sensors may be arranged as a symmetric or asymmetric N&#xd7;Narray, where Nand Nare integers, Nrepresents the number of sensors linked together in series, and Nrepresents the number of sensor sets in parallel, where each sensor set may comprise one or more sensors. Further, the array of sensors may be coupled to a voltmeter, which may be a single voltmeter in some cases that allows the sensors to all be probed simultaneously.

Biosensor for detecting a single magnetic label

The invention is a novel and non-obvious design and implementation of an inductive sensor for quantifying magnetic particles. The invention parts way from the conventional methods of using wounded coils to a design that is compatible with an integrated circuit (IC) chip fabrication processes and/or printed circuit board (PCB) manufacturing. The increased accuracy from these fabrication methods provides a significant improvement to sensor sensitivity. In addition, the design of the inductive sensor enables easy integration with lateral flow assay (LFA) technology. The sensor can be applied to detect and quantify molecules to provide information on health, hazard or safety.

Ultra-sensitive volumetric magnetic particle detector

Methods, devices and kit for analyzing a sample comprising 1,5-anhydroglucitol and a first analyte via one or more chemiluminescent reactions. Certain embodiments include measuring a first light response resulting from a first chemiluminescent reaction and measuring a second light response resulting from a second chemiluminescent reaction. Certain embodiments also include comparing the first light response to the second light response to determine a ratio of 1,5-anhydroglucitol and the first analyte.

Systems and methods for detection of chemtiluminescent reactions

A methodology for assays and diagnostics utilizes a nanoporous or corrugated metal-containing surface, fiber or particle which enhances or suppresses the optical detectability of a label. The resulting optical, electromagnetic, or imaging signal signals the presence of a pathogen or analyte of interest. Preferred embodiments pertain to label-free, in situ monitoring of individual DNA hybridization in microfluidics using molecular sentinel probes immobilized on nanoporous gold disks. By immobilizing molecular sentinel probes on nanoporous gold disks, single-molecule sensitivity is demonstrated via surface-enhanced Raman scattering which provides robust signals. The described methodology is generally applicable to most amplification independent assays and molecular diagnostics.

Nanoporous gold and silver nanoparticles and substrates for molecular and biomolecular sensing

Disclosed are methods of detecting one or more analytes in a sample by: (1) associating the sample with a surface that includes an analyte binding agent to result in the immobilization of the analytes on the surface; (2) contacting the analyte with a composition that includes at least one phosphor compound with an affinity for the analyte; (3) formation of immobilized analyte binding agent-analyte-phosphor complexes on the surface; (4) separating unbound phosphor compounds from the immobilized complexes; (5) detecting a presence or absence of a luminescence signal from the immobilized complexes; and (6) correlating the luminescence signal to the presence or absence of the analyte in the sample. The phosphor compound may include (SrBa)MgSiO:EuDy, (SrBa)MgSiO:EuDy, (SrBa)MgSiO:EuDy, (SrBa)MgSiO:Eu, and combinations thereof. Additional phosphor compounds may also be utilized, such as [AE]MgSiO:Eu, [AE]AlO:Eu, Dy, and combinations thereof, where AE is at least one of Ca, Sr, or Ba.

Blue emitting persistent phosphor compositions as diagnostic reporters

In some embodiments, the present disclosure pertains to new compositions of matter that comprise phosphorescent reporters. In some embodiments, the phosphorescent reporters of the present disclosure comprise strontium aluminate. In some embodiments, the strontium aluminate is doped with europium and dysprosium (SrAlO:Eu, Dy). Additional embodiments of the present disclosure pertain to methods of making the aforementioned phosphorescent reporters. In some embodiments, the method includes size reduction of inorganic phosphorescent powders through a combination of wet milling and settling. In additional embodiments, the present disclosure pertains to methods of detecting the phosphorescent reporters in various settings, such as diagnostic settings.

Enzymatic nucleic acid synthesis: compositions and methods for inhibiting pyrophosphorolysis

A biomolecular sensor system includes an array of magnetoresistive nanosensors designed for sensing biomolecule-conjugated superparamagnetic nanoparticles. Materials and geometry of each sensor element are designed for optimized sensitivity. The system includes magnetic field generators to apply forces to superparamagnetic nanoparticles for 1) nanoparticle manipulation, 2) sensor magnetic biasing, 3) magnetic pull-off measurement for differentiation against non-specific association, and 4) removal of all particles from the sensor array surface.
