Preparation of exhaust gas from a gas turbine for exhaust gas recirculation

A method and apparatus are disclosed for mixing H2-rich fuels with air in a gas turbine combustion system, wherein a first stream of burner air and a second stream of a H2-rich fuel are provided. All of the fuel is premixed with a portion of the burner air to produce a pre-premixed fuel/air mixture. This pre-premixed fuel/air mixture is injected into the main burner air stream.

Method and gas turbine combustion system for safely mixing H2-rich fuels with air

A method is provided for operating a gas turbine installation which has at least one compressor for compressing combustion air, at least one combustion chamber for combusting a supplied fuel, using the compressed combustion air, and also at least one turbine which is exposed to throughflow by the hot gases from the at least one combustion chamber. Both a first fuel on a carbon base, especially in the form of natural gas, and also a second fuel, in the form of a hydrogen-rich fuel or pure hydrogen, are used as fuel. A reduction of the COemission without basic modifications to the installation is achieved by the first and the second fuels being intermixed and combusted together in the at least one combustion chamber.

The invention relates to a method for operating a combined cycle power plant, which includes a steam turbine powertrain with a high-pressure steam turbine, an intermediate pressure steam turbine and a low-pressure steam turbine, whereby intermediate pressure steam flowing from the exit of the high-pressure steam turbine to the inlet of the intermediate pressure steam turbine is reheated by means of the reheat device, and which is connected to a solar thermal plant, that generates additional solar steam for being used by said steam turbine powertrain. The output of the solar steam generator is used more effectively, and the overall plant performance, flexibility and operability are enhanced by at least part of the additional solar steam reaching the intermediate pressure steam turbine without being reheated in said reheat device.

Power plant with solar energy system

The invention relates to a method for operating a gas turbine power plant, including a gas turbine, a HRSG following the gas turbine, an exhaust gas blower, and a carbon dioxide separation plant which separates the carbon dioxide contained in the exhaust gases and discharges it to a carbon dioxide outlet, the gas turbine, HRSG, exhaust gas blower, and carbon dioxide separation plant being connected by means of exhaust gas lines. According to the method a trip of the gas turbine power plant includes the steps of: stopping the fuel supply, switching off the exhaust gas blower, and controlling the opening angle of a VIGV at a position bigger or equal to a position required to keep a pressure in the exhaust gas lines between the HRSG and the exhaust gas blower above a minimum required pressure. The invention relates, further relates to a gas turbine power plant configured to carry out such a method.

Operation of gas turbine power plant with carbon dioxide separation

Reliable, low-NOx-emission operation of a gas turbine plant with hydrogen-rich fuel gas, and a gas turbine plant with a device for water injection into hydrogen-rich fuels in a gas turbine, involves suitable water injection (), a water-fuel gas mist, i.e., a fuel gas in which fine water droplets are suspended, is created in the fuel gas feed line (). This mist is introduced into the burners () of the gas turbine. As a result of the water-fuel gas mist, four effects are combined for ignition delay and reduction of the flame velocity of hydrogen-rich fuel gas. When using a water-fuel gas mist, the water, in a directed manner, reaches the region in the burner () in which it directly has the greatest possible effect upon the flame or the flame velocity.

Method of operating a gas turbine, and gas turbine with water injection

The present invention relates to a burner for a combustion chamber of a gas turbine plant. The burner includes a lance for introducing gaseous fuel into the burner. A shaft of the lance has at least one nozzle for introducing gaseous fuel into the burner. A main injection direction of the respective nozzle is oriented onto a portion of a burner wall. An introduction device for a diverting fluid is provided, which is designed for introducing a diverting fluid counteracting an impingement of the fuel flow on the burner wall.

A method and an apparatus are provided for the combustion of gaseous fuel containing hydrogen or consisting of hydrogen, with a burner which provides a swirl generator, into which liquid fuel is fed centrally along a burner axis, at the same time forming a conically shaped liquid fuel column which is surrounded by a rotating combustion air stream which flows tangentially into the swirl generator and into which, additionally, a gaseous and/or liquid fuel is injected so as to form a fuel/air swirl flow which is transferred downstream of the swirl generator, along a transitional portion, into a mixing zone following the transitional portion downstream and which is ignited and burnt in a combustion chamber following downstream, at the same time forming a backflow zone.

Method for operating a burner

A lance is presented for introducing fuel into a second burner of a combustion chamber of a gas turbine installation with sequential combustion, having a first and a second combustion chamber. The lance includes a foot and a shank which projects from it. In an installed state of the lance the foot extends perpendicularly or at an angle to a main flow direction of the burner. The shank extends centrally in the burner and generally parallel to the main flow direction. At least one projecting arm, having at least one nozzle for introducing fuel, is arranged such that it extends from the shank. A respective end of the at least one arm is oriented in the main flow direction and extends generally parallel to the main flow direction.

Burner and fuel lance for a gas turbine installation

A method is provided for operation of an integrated solar combined-cycle power station. The power station includes a water/steam circuit having a steam turbine and a heat recovery steam generator through which hot exhaust gases from a gas turbine flow. The water/steam circuit is additionally supplied with heat from a solar array. In such a method, an optimum cost-benefit relationship is achieved in that the water/steam circuit is designed only for the full load on the gas turbine, and in that, when feeding additional power from the solar array into the water/steam circuit, the load on the gas turbine is reduced, on the basis of the power additionally fed in from the solar array, to such an extent that the total output power of the integrated solar combined-cycle power station remains substantially constant.

A method and installation are disclosed which can, for example, provide for reliable, low-Nox-emission operation of a gas turbine installation with hydrogen-rich fuel gas. An exemplary gas turbine installation includes an arrangement for flue gas recirculation into a compressor inlet and for fuel gas dilution. Oxygen content in combustion air can be reduced by recirculation of recooled flue gas, and the fuel gas can be diluted with compressed flue gas. The oxygen reduction in the combustion air can lead to minimum residual oxygen in the flue gas which can be used for fuel gas dilution. As a result of the flue gas recirculation, water content in the combustion air can be increased by feedback of the water which results as a combustion product. The oxygen reduction, increased water content, and fuel dilution can reduce the flame velocity of hydrogen-rich fuel gases and enable a robust, reliable and low-emission combustion.

A method is provided for fuel injection in a sequential combustion system comprising a first combustion chamber and downstream thereof a second combustion chamber, in between which at least one vortex generator is located, as well as a premixing chamber having a longitudinal axis downstream of the vortex generator, and a fuel lance having a vertical portion and a horizontal portion, being located within said premixing chamber. The fuel injected is an MBtu-fuel. In said premixing chamber the fuel and a gas contained in an oxidizing stream coming from the first combustion chamber are premixed to a combustible mixture. The fuel is injected in such a way that the residence time of the fuel in the premixing chamber is reduced in comparison with a radial injection of the fuel from the horizontal portion of the fuel lance.

Fuel injection method

In a power plant which is equipped with a gas turbine, fuel for the gas turbine is preheated by means of solar heat. The preheating is realized through the use of a heat transfer circuit. The use of an additional, second heat transfer circuit between the source for the solar heat and the first heat transfer circuit permits storage of the solar heat. The fuel preheating according to the invention permits in particular an increase in the efficiency of the power plant.

A method for the combustion of hydrogen-rich, gaseous fuels in combustion air in a burner of a gas turbine includes injecting the hydrogen-rich, gaseous fuel at least partially isokinetically with respect to the combustion air such that the partially hydrogen-rich, gaseous fuel is injected at least partially in the same direction and at least partially at the same velocity as the combustion air.
