A package for holding multiple media discs includes a hinged tray assembly, which includes a plurality of disc-holding trays, each tray having a hinge edge. The trays are positioned with respect to each other such that when the tray assembly is in a closed configuration, the trays are arranged in a stack with their hinge edges lined up with each other at a hinge side of the tray assembly. The trays are hinged to each other by a flexible hinge member that is affixed to the hinge edges of the trays. The package further includes a jacket, comprising a plurality of panels that fold around the tray assembly. The jacket includes an interior surface to which a bottom surface of the tray assembly is mounted, the plurality of panels folding around the tray assembly to close the package.

Packaging for multiple media discs and methods for making same

A package for holding multiple media discs includes a stack of disc-holding trays, and a flexible hinge member affixed to hinge edges of each tray, which secures the trays in relation to each other. The stack of trays may be mounted onto a panel of a folded jacket, or inserted into a sleeve. Further described are fastening means for holding the package closed, and methods for manufacturing packages for holding multiple media discs.

A cost-effective package is described that creates a visual impression of a packaged item floating within a frame. The package includes a chassis having a compartment for holding the item and a frame for holding the chassis. The chassis includes a front panel and a rear panel. The chassis compartment is formed by a cavity in the front panel and a corresponding cavity in the rear panel. The chassis further includes a flange for installing the chassis into the frame. The flange is formed by first and second flange flaps that extend respectively from the front and rear chassis panels. The frame for holding the chassis includes a series of panels that fit around the outer perimeter of the chassis. One of the panels includes a guide channel and slot for receiving the chassis flange. The package is formed by sliding the chassis into the frame and folding the frame closed around the chassis.

A one-piece folding carton is described that has a hang tab pivotably mounted behind a first carton panel, the hang tab being pivotable between a tucked position in which the hang tab is tucked behind the first carton panel, and an extended position in which an upper portion of the hang tab extends out of the carton for hanging the carton on a display. The carton further includes a first restraining surface positioned with respect to the hang tab such that the hang tab is prevented from being pulled all the way out of the carton by an outside edge of the hang tab butting up against the first restraining surface when the hang tab is in its extended position.
