An airbag module for helping to protect an occupant of a vehicle includes a curtain airbag and a mounting bracket. The curtain airbag includes a mounting tab configured to receive a fastener for connecting the curtain airbag to the vehicle. The mounting bracket is configured to cooperate with the mounting tab to facilitate the connection of the curtain airbag to the vehicle via the fastener. The mounting bracket includes a generally planar body portion and a fastening structure that extends transversely from the body portion. The mounting tab includes overlying layers of material that help define a pocket configured to receive the mounting bracket. The mounting tab includes a first fastener opening configured to receive the fastening structure so that the fastening structure extends through the first fastener opening with the body portion positioned in the pocket. The fastening structure is configured for installation in the vehicle structure to initially support the airbag module in the vehicle. The airbag module further includes a fastener configured to extend through the mounting tab and the mounting bracket to connect the airbag module to the vehicle.

Mounting bracket for curtain airbag

An apparatus for helping to protect an occupant of a vehicle includes a curtain airbag inflatable from a stored condition in which the airbag is rolled and/or folded to a deployed condition in which the curtain airbag is positioned between a side structure of the vehicle and the vehicle occupant. The curtain airbag comprises an inflator mouth configured to receive an inflator. The curtain airbag comprises a bracket tab proximate to the inflator mouth and configured to receive an inflator bracket. A tether has first and second end portions. The first end portion of the tether is connected to a portion of the curtain airbag adjacent to the bracket tab. The second end portion of the tether is connected to the bracket tab.

Curtain airbag with anti-wrapping tether

An internal combustion engine and method is disclosed wherein separate compression and power cylinders are used and a regenerator or pair of regenerators is mounted between them to provide heat for hot-air ignition. The single regenerator embodiment operates as a two-stroke cycle engine and the embodiment with an alternating pair of regenerators operates as a four-stroke cycle engine. The engine varies the amount of air entering the power cylinder to control the engine output during naturally aspirated operation using valve timing and/or volume control of dead space and can optionally include supercharging to control the engine at higher output levels.

Internal combustion engine with regenerator, hot air ignition, and naturally aspirated engine control

A tension adjustment apparatus for a sander includes a first rigid portion and an opposed second rigid portion. A pair of elongated members are attached to the second portion and slideably received within the first portion. A pair of edge cavities are provided within the first portion each exposing a portion of the elongated member having a notch. A wheel is disposed within each edge cavity and caged by the notch of such elongated member. The wheel has axially disposed threaded apertures engaging a threaded fastener employed for attaching the wheel to the first portion for enabling linear motion of the elongated member and a corresponding linear motion of the second portion in a first direction away from the first portion to apply a predetermined tension in a sanding element and in a second linear direction towards the first portion to release the applied tension during reciprocal rotation of the wheels.

An internal combustion engine and method is disclosed wherein separate compression and power cylinders are used and a regenerator or pair of regenerators is mounted between them to provide heat for hot-air ignition. The single regenerator embodiment operates as a two-stroke cycle engine and the embodiment with an alternating pair of regenerators operates as a four-stroke cycle engine. Valving is provided for uniflow design and the system allows variable fuel ratios. The engine uses supercharging to control the engine.

Internal combustion engine with regenerator, hot air ignition, and supercharger-based engine control

An internal combustion engine and method is disclosed wherein a separate compression cylinder and an adiabatic power cylinder are used and a regenerator or pair of regenerators is mounted between them to provide heat for hot-air ignition. The single regenerator embodiment operates as a two-stroke cycle engine and the embodiment with an alternating pair of regenerators operates as a four-stroke cycle engine. Improvements include a power transfer valve with an anti-backflow design using a recessed valve seat, a rapid leakdown lifter, and ceramic coatings to minimize blow-by, seal the power cylinder during the combustion process, and protect the valve. Additionally, the power cylinder piston, power cylinder head and power transfer valve are all either made from ceramics or have ceramic coatings to insulate the gases and prevent loss of heat from the gases to the cooling system. The lower pressures allows the soft spray of fuel without forming soot.

An internal combustion engine and method is disclosed wherein separate compression and power cylinders are used and a regenerator or pair of regenerators is mounted between them to provide heat for hot-air ignition. The single regenerator embodiment operates as a two-stroke cycle engine and the embodiment with an alternating pair of regenerators operates as a four-stroke cycle engine. Valving is provided for uniflow design and the system allows variable fuel ratios. The resulting engine achieves brake efficiency and thermal efficiency greater than 50%.
