A crossbow trigger mechanism operable to fire an arrow or bolt. The trigger mechanism includes a trigger operatively connected to a pair of jaws for holding a tensioned crossbow string when the jaws are in a closed position. An arrow or bolt is insertable between the upper and lower jaws.

Crossbow trigger assembly

Disclosed in a dry fire arrestor for a crossbow having a trigger mechanism operable to fire an arrow or bolt, that includes a spring plate, trigger sear connected to the trigger mechanism, an anti-dry fire bar for engaging and disengaging the trigger sear. The dry fire arrestor utilizes tension provided by the spring plate to allows anti dry fire bar to automatically engage the trigger sear, precluding movement of the trigger when an arrow in not properly inserted in the dry fire arrestor.

A broadhead for an arrow having a reduced amount of interference in the pivotal range of travel of the cutting blades, thereby allowing the cutting blades to pivot to a predetermined deployed position. The broadhead generally includes a body portion having a circular cross-section and defining a proximal end and a distal end, a post member extending from the proximal end having an outer diameter less than an outer diameter of the body portion, a pointed tip at the distal end of the body portion, at least one cutting blade secured to the body portion and configured to be movable from a retracted position to an expanded position; and a washer configured to be positioned over the post member and adjacent the outer peripheral surface, the washer having at least one chamfer formed thereon. An elastic ring may be provided around the cutting blades to maintain the cutting blades in an undeployed, retracted position. The retracted blade assembly may also be fixedly secured to enable the user to utilize the broadhead as a target point.

Broadhead for an arrow having expanding cutting blades

A broadhead for an arrow having a mechanism for securing expanding cutting blades to the body portion or ferrule of the broadhead which insures true alignment of the longitudinal axis of the broadhead with the longitudinal axis of the cutting blades. A compressible ring holds the cutting blades adjacent their proximal ends to form a ring-cutting blade assembly. The ring is placed over a post member extending from the body portion. A washer may be provided for positioning between the ferrule and a cylindrical insert located at the distal end of the arrow shaft. Inserting the post member into the arrow shaft and insert forces the washer to move distally and apply pressure to the ring-cutting blade assembly. The pressure applied to the ring-cutting blade assembly compresses and wedges the ring within a circular gap formed at the point where the post member extends from the body portion to firmly secure the blades to the broadhead. An elastic ring may be provided around the cutting blades to maintain the cutting blades in an undeployed, retracted position. The retracted blade assembly may also be fixedly secured to enable the user to utilize the broadhead as a target point.

A broadhead for an arrow having a locking mechanism which insures true alignment of the longitudinal axis of the broadhead with the longitudinal axis of the shaft of the arrow. The shaft is fit within a longitudinal bore in the body of the broadhead and a locking nut engages external threads at an end of the broadhead which tightens the body of the broadhead about the shaft of the arrow to frictionally engage the arrow shaft within the broadhead body.

Broadhead for an arrow and method of securement

A broadhead for an arrow having a locking mechanism which insures true alignment of the longitudinal axis of the broadhead with the longitudinal axis of the shaft of the arrow. A securing member has longitudinal slots extending from opposite ends thereof. Each slot extends more than half the length of the securing member. The securing member is positioned over and screwed to an inner member, which is one of the arrow shaft and broadhead, and fitted within an outer member, which is the other of the arrow shaft and broadhead. When the inner member is screwed to the securing member the latter expands radially pressing it firmly against the inside of the outer member to secure the broadhead to the shaft. Because the securing member has longitudinally overlapping slots extending from opposite ends the radial expansion is uniform over the length of the securing member.

A tool for facilitating the assembly or disassembly of a broadhead from an arrow shaft which substantially reduces or eliminates the potential of injury to a user. A broadhead guide is provided which directs the broadhead into an axial bore having blade engaging slots which securely holds the broadhead in place to allow for rotation of the shaft of the arrow to remove or secure the broadhead to the shaft. Broadhead shank engaging tabs are also provided to facilitate removal of the shank of a broadhead having broken or missing blades.

Broadhead tool

A broadhead for an arrow having penetration limiting members positioned thereon for limiting the penetration of the arrow and broadhead through a target. The penetration limiting members are assembled to the broadhead in much the same way as the blades of the arrow, and have a substantially triangular shape in which a first leg is attached to the broadhead and a second leg extends at an angle from the first leg. A portion of a third leg is provided which assists in the initial penetration to allow the broadhead to enter the target.

A broadhead arrow head is disclosed with one or more replaceable cutting blades each radially and longitudinally secured in a longitudinal slot of the broadhead body. Each blade has a mounting opening with an inside edge and a stepped trailing edge, and the blade itself is longitudinally movable in its slot between a mounting position, wherein the inside edge of the opening is located below a locking ring extending about the body in a relaxed condition, and a lock position wherein the stepped trailing edge underlies the locking ring to stress the locking ring and effect a radially inwardly directed force on the blade for securing it in position on the body of the arrow head.
