A device for transporting freight articles in a ground or rail haul operations comprises a hollow housing including four corner sections, side walls, two center sections defining four openings each disposed between one edge of a center section and an edge of a respective corner section, a bottom portion and a top portion, wherein the two center portions are manufactured from see through or clear material. A door is mounted to selectively open and close a respective opening and swinging outwardly and towards a respective corner portion to selectively open the respective opening. Two channels are provided in the bottom portion, each in open communication with opposite sides of the bottom portion. Four feet or wheels are mounted on the bottom portion. Four receptacles are provided in the top portion, each sized and shaped to receive a foot therewithin.

A system for transporting cargo includes a cargo terminal having a pair of longitudinal sides, at least one of the pair of longitudinal sides disposed adjacent to and spaced a predetermined distance from a railway track and at least one railcar positioned at a predetermined acute angle relative to the at least one of the pair of longitudinal sides of the cargo terminal and having one end thereof disposed in close proximity thereto so as to enable loading or unloading such cargo through such one end of such at least one railcar. Baseball bat training aid and method of use

The invention is a system for transporting highway vehicles on railway vehicles. It has rail cars positionable relative to one another at an angle of at least about 50 degrees. Each car has a deck for highway vehicles. The system has a railroad terminal with a first track with switch(es) connected to spur(s) so trucks supporting a first set of car ends may be kept on the first track, while a second set of trucks supporting a second set of car ends is placed on the spur(s). The rail cars are thereby placed in a zig-zag configuration. For each of the rail cars, a truck supporting one end remains on the first track while a truck supporting the other end is placed on a spur. A vector parallel to the direction of travel of a truck along the tracks supporting it has a vector component of at least about 0.25 in a direction parallel to the centerline of a railway vehicle supported on the truck, so forces for moving rail cars into and out of the zig-zag configuration may be communicated by tension or compression along the rail cars. The terminal has a dock or ramp having an elevation about equal to the elevation of the rail cars so that highway vehicles may be driven or pulled onto or off the rail cars. The terminal has a roadway or other driveable path to an external highway system.

Roll on-roll off piggyback bimodal terminal system

System and method for loading and unloading highway vehicles for transportation over railroad lines. The system has a number of railroad vehicles, each having a deck for highway vehicles. The deck extends from a central portion of the vehicle to one or both ends of the railway vehicle. The invention includes a terminal which has at least one stationary railroad track portion which is connected to a railroad system outside of the terminal. The terminal also has number of moveable railroad track segments. These segments can be positioned in a first configuration in which they are aligned so that railroad vehicles can be rolled from one or more of the stationary railroad track segments onto the moveable railroad track segments. These segments can also be positioned in a second configuration in which at least one end of each of the railroad vehicles is positioned adjacent a dock or other surface for motor vehicles, so that highway vehicles can be moved from the railroad vehicles onto the surface for motor vehicles, or from the surface for motor vehicles to the railroad vehicles. The system is equipped to move the moveable track segments from the first configuration to the second configuration, and back to the first configuration. The surface for motor vehicles is connected to a highway system outside of the terminal.

A modular rail system supports accessories on a pickup truck bed. The system comprises first and second rail assemblies overlying the top surfaces of the first and second truck bed side walls for releasably connecting with the side walls. A flexible cover overlies the bed for covering and providing protection for the bed. A locking mechanism is likewise provided and is associated with the cover and the rail assemblies for lockingly attaching the cover to the rail assemblies and securing the cover in place over the truck bed. The first and second rail assemblies include first and second elongate members having at least one outboard elongated channel and at least two inboard elongated channels for receiving a mating portion of an accessory or an attachment for an accessory. The rail system may additionally include a decorative strip, light strip, protective cap, tie-down bar, light bar, utility box, camper top, and single or multi-piece bed liner, airfoiler, headache rack cab protection attachment, simulated roll bar, portable work bench, liquid storage tank, cargo compartment, advertising panel, ice chest, and various types of racks (motorcycle, bicycle, ski, ladder, etc.) or tracks for slidably receiving a hard shell, hard tonneau cover, camper top, or other accessory, each of which is supported by mating portions or attachments received in the elongated channels in the elongate members making up the rail assemblies.

A modular rail system is provided for supporting accessories on a pick-up truck bed. The system comprises first and second rail assemblies overlying the top surfaces of the first and second truck bed side walls for releasably connecting with the side walls. A flexible cover overlies the bed for covering and providing protection for the bed. A locking mechanism is likewise provided and is associated with the cover and the rail assemblies for lockingly attaching the cover to the rail assemblies and securing the cover in place over the truck bed. The rail system may additionally include a tie-down bar, a light bar, a utility box, a camper top, and a single or multi-piece bed liner, each of which is supported and connected to the rail assemblies.

Apparatus applicable to the piston rod of a control cylinder inherently operable to selectively limit and control the extent of its retraction. A preferred illustrative embodiment, as applied in use, conforms to a generally L-shaped structure the long leg of which is slim, substantially uniform in width, at least in part transversely arcuate along the length of its inner operative surface, highly resistant to compression and has its base end pivotally connected to the short leg of said structure. Springs interposed between these legs in the pivotal interconnection thereof are established in a secure and stable relation thereto in a manner to positively apply in continuing bias on the long leg which induces it to incline to and over the length of the short leg to inherently form therewith an acute angle. These legs are so formed to lend the minimal amount of material of which they are comprised a very high degree of load bearing strength for their size. In the illustrative embodiment the short leg is so formed to have one end portion thereof mount in a substantially complete circumferentially encompassing relation to a portion of the length of the piston rod to which it applies to have the remainder of its length project rigidly therefrom and radially thereof, subsequent to which the long leg is pivotally connected in a biased relation thereto to complete the generally L-shaped structure of which they form a part.

An apparatus for setting and maintaining a predetermined projected relation of a piston rod of a gas strut or like device with reference to the cylinder unit of which it forms a part having particular application to the support of a hatchback or rear deck closure panel, trunk lid or hood of an automotive vehicle in its open condition comprises a generally L-shaped structure formed to be firm and resistant to deformation save for the longer leg thereof and a limited portion of its shorter leg being provided with a limited capability of lateral flexing. The longer leg of this structure is normally inclined inwardly to and slightly over the shorter leg thereof. The shorter leg provides thereon structure for a simple and quick coupling thereof to a portion of a piston rod in a manner to normally establish the longer leg along and closely adjacent one side of the rod and to provide, when the rod is fully extended from its housing, that at least a portion of the length of the longer leg is directed into a portion of the projected length of the piston rod and there firmly maintained, under which condition the L-shaped structure provides abutment surfaces for respective engagement with the end of the cylinder housing from which the rod projects and a limiting abutment surface provided on the rod outwardly from and in a longitudinally spaced relation to the cylinder.
