Avalanche photodiode and methods of forming the same

A light box display configured for frontal access to change out graphics and to perform maintenance tasks. This is accomplished in the present invention while assuring that the graphics is held in a state of moderate tension to retain the graphics in a flat and properly oriented configuration. In the preferred embodiment, the light box comprises a moveable interior frame to which the graphics sheet and diffuser are both secured. The moveable interior frame rests on a plurality of upper and lower slides which facilitate movement of the inner frame. Such movement is controlled, in part, by at least one pneumatic piston which biases the frame toward the front of the light box and provides a mechanical lock that holds the frame in its rearward position to facilitate frontal access. The graphics sheet is held in place along the top and bottom front peripheral edges of the moveable frame by a plurality of spring-biased wire connection members within roller guides. One end of each wire member is attached to the rear peripheral surface of the moveable inner frame and the other end is threaded through a grommeted hole along the outer edge of the graphics sheet. Side spring-biased wire connection members are also provided.

Light box display apparatus configured for frontal access

A method is provided for forming a semiconductor-detection device that provides internal gain. The method includes forming a plurality of bottom trenches in a bottom surface of an n-doped semiconductor wafer; and forming a second plurality of top trenches in a top surface of the semiconductor wafer. The bottom surface and the top surface are opposed surfaces. Each of the bottom trenches is substantially parallel to and substantially juxtaposed to an associated one of the top trenches. The method further includes doping the semiconductor wafer with at least one p-type dopant to form a p-region that defines at least one n-well within the p-region, wherein a p-n junction is formed substantially at an interface of the n-well and the p-region; and removing a portion of the bottom surface to form a remaining-bottom surface, wherein a portion of the n-well forms a portion of the remaining-bottom surface.

Large area semiconductor detector with internal gain

The present invention is a solid state detector that has internal gain and incorporates a special readout technique to determine the input position at which a detected signal originated without introducing any dead space to the active area of the device. In a preferred embodiment of the invention, the detector is a silicon avalanche photodiode that provides a two dimensional position sensitive readout for each event that is detected.

A modular snap-in keypad apparatus includes a planar frame member having a plurality of button accommodating apertures and a plurality of mounting posts extending therefrom. An elastomeric key button assembly has a planar surface containing a plurality of apertures which are positioned to receive each post. The button assembly comprises a plurality of raised elastomeric button structures which extend through an associated button accommodating aperture when said posts of said frame assembly accommodates the apertures in the button assembly. A planar switch assembly has a plurality of apertures which are congruently positioned with respect to the posts to enable the contact assembly to be positioned with respect to each button so that a conductive area of the button contacts the contact assembly when the button is depressed. The contact assembly is fabricated on a Mylar sheet and has a contact area which consists of an outer partial circular contact having inwardly disposed triangular projections and an inner T-shaped contact. When a button is depressed the inner T-shaped contact contacts the outer circular contact by means of the conductive area of the button. A planar back plate is secured to the frame assembly by means of apertures therein. The back plate supports and further enables a user to tactically respond to switch depression.

Snap-in modular keypad apparatus

There is disclosed a method of fabricating a folded printed circuit board. The method includes the steps of forming first and second apertures in a rigid board along a common line which line is parallel to a side edge of a board then scoring the line to form a break area for said board. The next step includes the formation of terminal areas on each side of the apertures on opposite sides of the line and forming component terminal areas for said board. Automatically inserting said components into said rigid board, while automatically inserting larger diameter wire conductors into said terminal areas to bridge said apertures, breaking the board along the scored line and folding the board with said wires across the apertures forming hinge assemblies for said board.

Methods and techniques for fabricating foldable printed circuit boards

The pneumatically operated apparatus includes a transparent, calibrated paint container to facilitate measuring of the required proportions of color and solvents. A vertically displaceable and rotatable member extends through and seals an opening in the bottom of the container. The member has a hollow body forming a paint passage. An agitator is sealingly mounted on the end thereof extending through the opening and into the container, the other end being opened. An aperture is provided in the wall of the member spaced a short distance from the agitator. A friction surface is provided for connecting a pneumatically operated drive to the member to rotate same. The member is vertically displaceable between a mixing position, wherein the friction surface is effective to engage the member and rotate same and the aperture is situated below the container seal to prevent paint flow and a dispensing position, wherein the friction surface is disengaged from the member and the aperture is at least partially situated above the seal in the container, so as to provide a passage to permit gravity to cause the paint to flow through the body and out the bottom opened end thereof.
