A pulverizerincludes a journal assemblywith a grinding rollerthat grinds solids in a grinding table. The oscillations of the journal assemblyare monitored by an angular displacement transducer (ADT)that creates a composite signal. A controllerreceives the composite signal from the ADT and compares it with known information of the pulverizer. It then identifies abnormal situations such as damage to a grinding roll, the grinding table, the spring assemblyand other parts of the pulverizerbefore they cause major damage.

An auxiliary drive/brake system for a wind turbine includes an impulse, high torque motor, a gearbox transmission, a drive shaft, and a transfer gearbox that connects to either the wind turbine low-speed shaft or to the wind turbine gearbox. Control of the auxiliary drive/brake system is performed by a programmable computer-based motor drive control system in combination with instrumentation and sensors fitted to the rotating wind turbine components. Torque and horsepower created by the present auxiliary drive/brake system is transferred into the wind turbine low-speed shaft where it combines with the torque and horsepower created by the wind acting on the wind turbine rotor blades, the combined torque and horsepower is transferred from the wind turbine low-speed shaft into the wind turbine gearbox and the wind turbine generator, causing the wind turbine generator to operate and produce electricity which is supplied to the power company.

Auxiliary drive/brake system for a wind turbine

A pulverizerincludes a spring assemblythat urges a grinding rollerof a journal assemblyonto a grinding surfaceof a grinding table. The force applied is monitored by a load celllocated within spring assemblythat creates an electronic signal. A controllerreceives the electronic signal and stores and/or displays it and alternatively acts to adjust the applied force to a desired value. Alternatively, adjustable forces or mechanical dampening may be applied to journal assemblyby controller. Alternatively, additional sensors may measure displacement of the journal assembly and rotation of the grinding table for other calculations.

Force monitor for pulverizer integral spring assembly

A suction type coal feeder provided with a rear cleanout opening normally closed by a pivotally mounted cleanout door. A quick release mechanism normally clamps the door in its closed position with this mechanism including a pair of brackets mounted on each side of the housing of the feeder. These brackets are secured in place by the mounting bolts for the feed roll plugs that form a part of the feeder and are located at each end of the feed roll that is mounted at this rear portion of the feeder. Studs extend from these brackets in a rearward direction and a clamp bar is pivotally mounted on one of these studs and extends to the other stud which is received in an upwardly extending slot in the clamp bar. The position of the clamp bar is such that it extends across the upper region of the cleanout door and is effective to clamp the door closed by means of handle nuts threaded onto the studs. Loosening of the nuts permits the pivotal removal of the clamp bar and opening of the cleanout door.
