An accessory system for a firearm includes a target sight secured to a mounting rail of the firearm, an accessory secured to the mounting rail of the firearm, a sensor configured to sense a position of the accessory, and a processor configured to receive input from the sensor and adjust an operating mode of the target sight based on the input from the sensor. The sensor may be a magnetic sensor, a proximity sensor, an ambient light sensor, or a switch. Methods are also described.

An electronic aiming system includes an electro-mechanical reticle having a plurality of electrically powered holdover indicators disposed on a primary crosshair of the reticle, the holdover indicators configured to be individually selected and energized to a visible state, a rangefinder configured to generate range data, a computing device configured to generate ballistics data; and a processor configured to receive the range data and ballistics data, select, based at least in part on either or both of the range data and ballistics data, one or more of the holdover indicators, and energize the selected holdover indicator or indicators to the visible state.

A reticle for an aiming device includes a number of holdover indicators on the reticle that may be individually selected; an input for receiving ballistics data; and a processor configured to, based at least in part on the received ballistics data, select one or more of the holdover indicators; and cause the selected holdover indicator or indicators to visibly change state on the reticle. Digital reticle aiming method

A method of indicating an aiming adjustment in a riflescope of a shooting device. The method includes receiving, at a controller in the riflescope, a ballistics solution signal, the ballistics solution signal corresponding to a path of a projectile to be fired from the shooting device toward a target; receiving, at the controller, a first electronic signal corresponding to a position of an elevation adjustment selector of the riflescope relative to a zero point of the elevation adjustment selector; determining, by the controller, a magnitude and a direction of an aiming adjustment based on at least the first electronic signal and the ballistics solution signal; and activating an electronic indicator to provide a notification signal to a user, the notification signal conveying the magnitude and the direction of the aiming adjustment.

A dual-emitter micro-dot sight comprising a sight housing configured to mount to a shooting device, a first and a second light emitter each coupled to the sight housing, a beam combiner, a collimating lens, and a diverging lens. The beam combiner is configured to receive light from each of the first and the second light emitters and to guide the light to an optical path. The collimating lens is in the optical path and is configured to collimate the light from each of the first and the second light emitters. The diverging lens is in the optical path between the beam combiner and the collimating lens, and the diverging lens is configured to spread the light from each of the first and the second light emitters. The dual-emitter micro-dot sight may include windage and elevation adjustment mechanisms that are separate and independent for each of the first and the second light emitters.

Aiming system

A digital turret having an adjustment selector configured to adjust a main optical axis of a riflescope relative to a bore line of a shooting device. The digital turret may be configured to determine a position of the adjustment selector relative to a zero point of the adjustment selector. The digital turret may be further configured to transmit an electronic signal corresponding to the position of the adjustment selector.

An electronic indicator accessory may be coupled to a standard scope, which is in turn coupled to a shooting device, to indicate whether the scope is canted. The indicator may be visual, haptic, or aural. If visual, the visual indicator may include one or more LEDs positioned on the periphery of the field of view, on an accessory body attached to the scope. The accessory body may be coupled near either the ocular or objective lens of the scope. The LEDs are coupled to a microprocessor which is, in turn, coupled to a solid-state electronic inclinometer that is incorporated into the internal structure of the optical system. The microprocessor is configured to selectively illuminate one or more of the visual indicators based on the output of the inclinometer, thereby indicating how the reticle is canted, if at all.

A reticle of a projectile-weapon aiming system such as a riflescope includes first and second series of secondary aiming marks spaced apart below a primary aiming point, the first and second series providing holdover aiming points for regularly incrementing target distances for respective subsonic and supersonic .300 AAC Blackout ammunition, or other differing types of ammunition, without requiring adjustment of the optics or settings of the aiming system.

Projectile-weapon reticle with holdover aiming features for multiple projectile velocities

An optical sighting device includes an electronic controller that is responsive to changes in an optical magnification of the sighting device to resize at least a portion of a reticle produced by an electronic display or other means proximate a focal plane of the sighting device. In some embodiments, the reticle is located proximate a rear focal plane of the sighting device and may be scaled by the electronic controller in concert with changes in optical magnification to simulate a front focal plane reticle. A functional pattern of the reticle may also be automatically changed at different magnification settings to provide different types of reticles, such as CQB and sniper reticles, in a single optical device.
