Methods of expressing animation in a data stream are disclosed. In one embodiment, a method of expressing animation in a data stream includes defining animation states in the data stream with each state having at least one property such that properties are animated as a group. The animation states that are defined in the data stream may be expressed as an extension of a styling sheet language. The data stream may include web content and the defined animation states.

Methods and apparatuses for providing a hardware accelerated web engine

The disclosed embodiments provide a system that performs document scanning. The system includes a scanner and a computing device. To enable detection of the computing device in proximity to the scanner, the computing device may be configured to advertise a scan-receiving capability using a discovery protocol. Next, the scanner may use the discovery protocol to identify a set of computing devices in proximity to the scanner, including the computing device. The scanner may then provide the set of computing devices to a user of the scanner and obtain, from the user of the scanner, a selection of the computing device as a recipient of the scanned document. Finally, the scanner may send the scanned document to the computing device over a network connection with the computing device.

The disclosed embodiments provide a system that facilitates the execution of a print job. During operation, the system obtains print data and a set of job options for the print job, wherein the print data is associated with a document format that is not supported by a printing protocol used to perform the print job. Next, the system obtains a set of document-processing capabilities associated with the document format from a printer associated with the print job. Finally, the system configures the print job based on the job options and the document-processing capabilities without converting the print data into a different document format that is supported by the printing protocol.

The disclosed embodiments provide a system that performs a print job. During operation, the system obtains one or more available media attributes, including a media size, a border size, and/or a media type, from a printer associated with the print job. Next, the system provides the available media attributes to an application and uses the application to automatically generate and format print data for the print job based on the available media attributes. Finally, the system sends the print job to the printer, where the print job is executed using the printer.

Finally, the system configures the print data to conform to the document attributes to enable processing of the print job by the printer.

Another aspect provides a selectable user interface control for display in a graphical user interface that indicates a new operating condition of the computer system, different from a prior operating condition, by displaying a different appearance of the control. This is directed to systems, methods, and computer-readable media for defining print settings. In some cases, particular motions of the device can be associated with print settings. In a print settings mode, when the electronic device detects a motion of the device, the device can identify a print setting associated with the detected motion. In some cases, a print setting can instead or in addition be defined in response to receiving an input from an input interface, wherein the input is independent from a displayed option. To print the content, the content and the defined print settings can be provided to a printer system.

During operation, the system obtains one or more regions of interest associated with print data for the print job, wherein the print data is not formatted for a media size for the print job. Next, the system scales the print data based on a region of interest from the one or more regions of interest and the media size. Finally, the system sends the print job to a printer, wherein the print job is executed using the printer.

Methods and apparatuses for providing hardware acceleration of a web browser are disclosed. In one embodiment, a method of operating a web browser on a computer system includes analyzing a data stream having a plurality of fragments. The method further includes determining what fragments of the data stream should be rendered for storage into separate backing stores. The method further includes rendering the fragments into raster images intended for hardware acceleration. The method further includes storing the raster images in the backing stores located in a graphics processing unit.
