Systems and methods are disclosed for spherical three dimensional video rendering for virtual reality. A method includes receiving a spherical two-dimensional (2D) input image and a corresponding spherical depth map to be used in a creation of a spherical three-dimensional (3D) video, determining, by a processing device, a pixel shift value for each pixel of the spherical 2D input image based on the spherical depth map, and generating, based on the spherical 2D input image and the pixel shift values, a modified spherical image, wherein the modified spherical image in combination with the spherical 2d input image comprises at least one frame in the spherical 3D video.

Spherical three-dimensional video rendering for virtual reality

A media item is presented via a media player, the media player configured to receive the media item, the media item being associated with a format and including an audio component. Responsive to a change in a display mode associated with the media player, a second media player is identified that is configured to receive a corresponding media item, the corresponding media item being associated with a second format and including a second audio component that matches the audio component. A particular location is determined in the media item to cease presentation of the media item via the media player and a corresponding location in the corresponding media item to begin presentation of the corresponding media item using the second media player. Responsive to reaching the particular location, concurrently, presentation of the media item is ceased and presentation of the corresponding media item at the corresponding location is begun.

Aspects and implementations of the present disclosure are directed to methods of and systems for estimating latent demand with user prioritization. The estimated latent demand may be used to identify potential increases in usage of a networked computer service that could be realized by provisioning additional resources. A sub-set of the user base is provided a communication quality of service enhancement simulating provisioning of additional resources. Estimated latent usage demand is then determined by comparing the networked computer service usage by the user base receiving the enhancement with usage by a user base not receiving the enhancement.

A method for facilitating monetization of an embedded video configured for automated playback includes detecting, via an iframe embedded in a user interface of a third party platform, an indication of a user intent to view the video configured for automated playback. The video is hosted by a content sharing platform and embedded in the user interface of the third party platform. The method further includes providing, to a client device, video related data pertaining to the automated playback of the video in the user interface of the third party platform, and upon receiving the video-related data, validating the automated playback of the video in the user interface of the third party platform.

Two-stage playback: verifying user intent to watch an embedded video

Community interaction during video viewing is provided. A video hosting website includes videos available for viewing. Users establish lists of friends, who are other users of the video hosting site. When a user logs on, her presence is made known by an interaction engine to her friends that are also logged in to the site. The user's activities are tracked and her friends are notified of those activities. Tracked activities may include viewing a video, rating a video, commenting on a video, uploading a video to the site, and adding a new friend. Friends are notified of these activities in one embodiment through one or more user interface elements. A user can select a user interface element to discover which of her friends are also watching the same video at that time. A user watching a video can summon her online friends to the watch page to watch collaboratively.

Real-time interaction during video viewing

A system and method for a content player to determine and retrieve a graphical asset associated with a player feature supported by the content. The content player downloads the graphical assets, integrates the graphical assets in the player's graphical user interface, and displays the graphical assets as part of the player's user interface. The user can now select one of the graphical assets to enable the player feature associated with the graphical asset.
