The invention relates to an apparatus for a diesel engine with a distributor injection pump with which is associated an electronically regulated fuel feed control mechanism with a rotary magnet which operates a control valve of the injection pump. In order to avoid the unintentional injection of an excessive amount of fuel caused by a error in the electronic, the fuel feed control mechanism has a rate of flow end position beyond the allowable operating range, in which a system for interrupting the fuel feed to the injection pump, e.g., an electrical fuel shutoff valve, is activated.

Apparatus for a diesel engine

A diesel internal combustion engine 1 has an air intake 2, an injection pump 3 and an exhaust pipe 4. In the fuel injection line 7 is arranged an electromagnetic shut-off valve 8, which closes the fuel supply when the 'ignition' switch 10 is turned off, in order to bring the engine 1 to an immediate halt. In the exhaust pipe 4 is arranged a lambda lean probe 12, which feeds to a comparator electronics system 14 a signal corresponding to the oxygen content of the exhaust gas; this signal is compared in the comparator circuit with a lambda nominal value. If an excess quantity of fuel has been injected, for example, due to a fault in the injection system the value detected by the lambda probe 12 will fail to reach the nominal value, whereupon the comparator electronic system 14 activates a switch 15 in the control line 9 of the shut-off valve 8. The current supply to the shut-off valve 8 is interrupted and the fuel supply to the engine 1 is shut off. In this way unintentional acceleration of the engine as a result of faulty injection of an excess quantity of fuel, is prevented.

Control device for a diesel internal combustion engine

In an air compressing, internal combustion engine with direct fuel injection, a rotation-symmetrical combustion chamber is positioned in a piston. Combustion air circulates around the longitudinal axis of the combustion chamber at the moment of fuel injection. An injection nozzle is provided from which the fuel is injected in at least two fuel jets into the combustion chamber. The engagement points of the fuel jets on the circumferential wall of the combustion chamber are evenly distributed over said wall. In addition, the engagement points are in different planes disposed normal to the longitudinal axis of the combustion chamber while being spaced from each end thereof. In one embodiment, the injection nozzle is coaxially disposed and emits three fuel jets, the engagement points of which are located in different planes evenly spaced from one another. In another embodiment the injection nozzle is offset with respect to the axis of the combustion chamber with the fuel jets being of substantially equal length. In a further embodiment, at least four fuel jets are emitted from a coaxially disposed injection nozzle with the engagement points of oppositely arranged pairs of fuel jets being in the same plane.

Apparatus for distribution of fuel from an injection nozzle with respect

A fuel injection jet for combustion engines has an injection head and a spring biased jet needle adapted to reciprocate towards and away from a conical needle valve seat provided by the injection head. Jet bores are provided in the injection head in at least two planes and are released in sequence upon reciprocation of the jet needle with increased fuel pressure. At least one jet bore emanates from the conical needle seat in order that it may be completely released even after slightest lifting of the jet needle to be fully admitted with fuel for atomization during injection. For the fuel supply exceeding the requirement beyond the idling and lower partial load range, the jet needle may be provided with a pin which is guided in a pocket bore of the injection head. This pocket bore is rearwardly of the needle seat and one or more jet bores adapted to be covered by the pin communicate therewith and are adapted to be closed when the pin is in the bore. With increased output requirements and consequently fuel pressure the bores covered by the pin are released. A channel network may be incorporated to interconnect the fuel supply channel and the jet bores.
