The glucose testing device with test strip dispenser is a blood glucose testing device. The blood glucose testing device tests for the concentration of the sugar known as glucose in the blood of a patient. The blood sample tested by the blood glucose testing device is presented to the blood glucose testing device on a sheeting known as a glucose test strip. The glucose testing device with test strip dispenser comprises a strip dispenser and the blood glucose testing device. The strip dispenser attaches to the blood glucose testing device. The strip dispenser is a refillable storage device that stores a plurality of glucose test strips.

A device for convening rotational motion of a threaded shaft to linear motion in parallelism with the shaft and having a high load carrying capacity and operating efficiencies that are on the order of 98 percent (98%), with the device including a roller bearing nut for the shaft that is arranged to provide a linear motion unit (for the device) and a housing annular structure arranged to be fixed from rotation and including a plurality of circularly and concavely shaped thrust teeth of essentially 'V' configuration 360 degrees (360.degree.) thereabout, of which such thrust teeth are of identical size and configuration and are disposed in coaxial side-by-side relation normally of the desired direction of linear motion and at a formula defined pitch that also exceeds the pitch of the shaft threading; cooperating between the shaft threading and the thrust teeth are a set of thrust rollers seated about the linear motion unit in uniformly spaced relation, with each thrust roller having two (and only two) spaced pairs of similar flanges each riding on both the shaft threading and one of the thrust teeth of the housing, with the spacing of such flanges of each such thrust roller being similar and formula defined, and with each thrust roller pair riding on only certain of the opposing thrust teeth, though the rest of such teeth are similarly engaged by the flange pairs of the other thrust rollers involved.

Linear actuation roller bearing nut

A hand brake for railroad cars comprising a winding drum journaled within its housing to be in concentric relation with the hand brake operating shaft. A brake chain wind up and let out control mechanism is interposed between the brake drum and the operating shaft, with the winding drum being journaled between a pair of annular bearing plates that are concentric with the shaft and fixed to the housing in spaced apart relation to receive the winding drum. The shaft is coupled to the winding drum by a sun and planetary gear reducer mechanism in which a plurality of planetary gear assemblies are mounted on one or more circular lands concentric with the operating shaft for free rolling non-journaled orbiting movement about the sun gear that is keyed to the operating shaft for rotation by same to effect wind up and let up of the brake chain. The sun and planetary gear mechanism has its parts oriented to provide a central drive input and output with balanced internal force applying and resisting characteristics. Brake chain take up and let out is effected by the operator manually operating the operating shaft, and no separate brake chain release mechanism is need or provided for.

Hand brake for railroad cars

A linear actuator of the threaded shaft actuator type comprising a rotary threaded shaft and a special bearing unit secured to the member to be moved linearly, in which the bearing unit comprises a plurality of rollers each having a plurality of radial right flanges intermediate their ends spaced apart and scheduled to complement the pitch of the shaft threading for rolling engagement herewith, which rollers at their ends are formed with thrust bearing surfaces that are angled relative to their axes that ride on spaced apart annular raceways defined by an outer race structure which in turn is secured to the member to be moved linearly. The roller flanges are formed with thrust transmitting faces angled with respect to the longitudinal axes of the respective rollers and shaped to substantially complement the shaft threading. Canting of the rollers with respect to the outer race is avoided by making the angulation of the roller bearing surfaces greater than the angulation of the roller thrust transmitting faces.

Linear actuator

An antifriction roller bearing having a bearing assembly comprising an outer race, an inner race, and rolling bearings interposed between said races, in which assembly the rolling bearings each comprise a roller having its ends in thrust load transmitting engagement with the outer race, which rollers are also in thrust and load transmitting relation to the inner race intermediate the ends of said rollers by way of right grooves and flanges formed in both the rollers and inner race, which are in substantially complemental interfitting relation. The area of engagement of said rollers with said inner race at least equals the area of engagement of said rollers with the outer race. The rollers have their thrust transmitting surfaces that engage corresponding surfaces of the outer race, and their thrust transmitting surfaces that engage corresponding surfaces of the inner race, angled with respect to the longitudinal axes of the respective rollers. Canting of the rollers is avoided by making the angulation of the roller surfaces that engage the outer race greater than the angulation of the roller surfaces engaging the inner race.

Antifriction roller bearing

A linear actuator of the threaded shaft actuator type comprising a rotary threaded shaft and a special bearing unit secured to the member to be moved linearly, in which the bearing unit comprises a plurality of rollers each having a plurality of radial right flanges intermediate their ends spaced apart and scheduled to complement the pitch of the shaft threading for rolling engagement therewith, which rollers at their ends are formed with bearing surfaces that are oblique relative to their axes that ride in spaced apart raceways defined by an outer race structure which in turn is secured to the member to be moved linearly. The rollers are received in non-journaling relation in a roller support that supports the rollers adjacent the respective roller raceways in the event of removal of the bearing unit from the shaft, and keys the rollers against orbiting about the shaft on rotation of the shaft, with the roller support itself being held against rotation about the shaft by connection to the member to be moved linearly but transmitting to such member the desired linear movement which is synchronized with the lead of the shaft threading.

Synchronized linear actuator

A linear actuator of the threaded shaft actuator type comprising a rotary threaded shaft and a special bearing unit secured to the member to be moved linearly, in which the bearing unit comprises a plurality of rollers each having a plurality of radial right flanges intermediate their ends spaced apart and scheduled to complement the pitch of the shaft threading for rolling engagement herewith, which rollers at their ends are formed with bearing surfaces that are oblique relative to their axes that ride on spaced apart raceways defined by an outer race structure which in turn is secured to the member to be moved linearly. When shock loads are to be resisted, the bearing unit includes a nut threaded on the shaft and formed to receive the rollers without journaling same and be rotated by the rollers, and the bearing unit is resiliently mounted for cooperation with a stop fixed relative to the member (that is to be moved linearly) from which the nut is normally spaced, such that the nut normally serves no load bearing or transmitting functions, but when shock loads are occasioned, the nut engages the stop to transmit the shock loads thereto in bypassing relation to the rollers and the surfaces they cooperate with.

An antifriction roller bearing having a bearing assembly comprising an outer race, an inner race, and rolling bearings interposed between said races, in which assembly the rolling bearings each comprise a roller having its ends in thrust and load transmitting engagement with the outer race, which rollers are also in thrust and load transmitting relation to the inner race intermediate the ends of said rollers. The area of engagement of said rollers with said inner race at least equals the area of engagement of said rollers with the outer race.
