This invention is directed to a process for producing olefin product from an oxygenate feed that includes dimethyl ether (DME). The process uses an olefin forming catalyst that contains a porous crystalline material, preferably a porous crystalline aluminosilicate molecular sieve material. The process produces high quantities of light olefin (i.e., ethylene, propylene, and mixtures thereof).

Production of light olefins

The present invention relates to processes for forming mixed alcohols containing methanol and ethanol. The mixed alcohol can then be used as a feedstock for an oxygenate to olefin reaction system for conversion thereof to ethylene, propylene, and the like. In addition, the olefins produced by the oxygenate to olefin reaction can then be used as monomers for a polymerization of olefin-containing polymers and/or oligomers.

Processes for converting oxygenates to olefins using aluminosilicate catalysts

This invention is directed to methods of converting oxygenates to olefin products. The methods provided include steps for protecting against deactivation of active molecular sieve catalysts during the conversion process. In particular, the invention provides for methods of regenerating coked catalyst to minimize catalyst deactivation due to contact with moisture.

Interior surface modifications of molecular sieves with organometallic reagents and the use thereof for the conversion of oxygenates to olefins

In a process for selectively separating 1-butene from a Cfeed stream comprising at least 1-butene, cis-2-butene and trans-2-butene, the feed stream is passed through a first bed of an adsorbent comprising a crystalline microporous material to form a substantially trans-2-butene-free effluent stream. Then, the substantially trans-2-butene-free effluent stream is passed through a second bed of an adsorbent comprising a crystalline microporous material to form a substantially 1-butene-free effluent stream, whereby the 1-butene is separated from the feed stream. The adsorbed 1-butene is then typically desorbed from the second adsorbent bed either by lowering the pressure or raising the temperature of the bed.

A method for the post synthesis modification of molecular sieves with organometallic reagents. The method may be used for large pore molecular sieves and small pore molecular sieves, such as SAPO-34. SAPO-34 is a useful catalyst for the conversion of oxygenates, such as methanol, to olefins. Post synthesis organometallic modification improves catalyst performance and increases light olefin selectivity in the conversion of methanol to olefins.

The present invention provides various processes for fluidizing molecular sieve catalyst compositions in a fluidized bed reaction system. The invention comprises fluidizing a molecular sieve catalyst composition with a reactive fluidizing medium under conditions effective to convert at least a portion of the fluidizing medium to additional product. The invention is ideally suited for implementation into an oxygenate to olefin reaction system, in which the fluidizing medium optionally comprises byproducts of the oxygenate to olefin conversion reaction.
