Opthalmic applicator for irradiation of intra-ocular tumors or the like

An auxological measuring apparatus in which there is provided a flat surface which is preferably horizontal, having on it a plate arranged for contact by the feet of a person with his back against the surface and on the case of a horizontal surface lying supine on it, there being a carriage linearly moveable on the surface which can be brought into contact with the person's head. An electronic transducer is associated with the carriage and is arranged to produce an electric signal indicative of the distance between the carriage and the surface and it is associated with electronic circuitry arranged to process the signal and to provide a visible indication of the distance and thus of the height of the person on the surface. A side table may be provided for attachment to the surface so that a person may lie on the surface and the side table with arms outstretched on the table so that an arm span mesurement can be made.

Auxological measuring apparatus

Surgical instrument for accurately cutting and removing fibrous tissue comprising a first tube (11) having at one end an end wall (12) disposed in a plane substantially normal to the longitudinal axis of the first tube (11), which end wall contains an aperture (13); a second tube (14) coaxial with the first tube (11) and having at one end wall (15) disposed in a plane substantially normal to the longitudinal axis of the second tube (14) which end wall (15) contains an aperture (16) and lies in closed juxtaposition with the end wall (12) of the first tube (11); a mechanism (17) to enable the tubes (11 and 14) to be rotated relative to one another such that the apertures (13 and 16) are moved into and out of register with one another; ducts (19 and 20) to direct a stream of an irrigating liquid to the one end of the tubes (11 and 14); and ducts (21, 37, 36 and 35) to connect the interior of the second tube (14) to a source of suction.

A navigation aid consists of only three, namely first, second, and third indicia bearing members, the latter being respectively a transparent ground speed member bearing a ground speed scale having an origin, a transparent true air speed member bearing a true air speed scale having an origin, and a transparent wind speed and direction member bearing a wind speed scale and a wind direction indicator and having an origin, one of the first and second members bearing above the origin of its scale a compass rose which carries a drift scale which measures the angle between the ground speed scale and the true air speed scale, the three members lying in parallel juxtaposed planes, and only two connections being provided, one of the connections connecting two of the above members together at the origins of their scales by a connection having one rotational degree of freedom, and the other of the connections connecting the remaining member to one of the other two members at the origin of its scale by a connection having one translational degree of freedom and one rotational degree of freedom.

Navigational aid

A pilot's kneepad for use as an aid to navigation by pilots and navigators of aircraft and other vessels consisting of a plate which has means for attaching it to the upper surface of the thigh of a seated pilot, the plate having on its upper surface information for use in navigational calculations and having hingedly attached to it along one edge a second plate the underside of which also carries information for use in navigational calculations and which has on its upper side means for attachment of a writing pad. Preferably, along one edge of the plate is provided a slide rule that can be used for making inflight calculations.
