A method of forming an overcoat layer. The method comprises providing a substrate having an imaging structure formed thereon, the imaging structure comprising (i) a charge transport layer and a charge generating layer, or (ii) an imaging layer comprising both charge generating material and charge transport material. An overcoat composition is deposited on the imaging structure, the overcoat composition comprising a charge transport molecule, a fluorinated building block, a leveling agent, a liquid carrier and optionally a first catalyst. The fluorinated building block is a fluorinated alkyl monomer substituted at the &#x3b1; and &#x3c9; positions with a hydroxyl, carboxyl, carbonyl or aldehyde functional group or the anhydrides of any of those functional groups. The overcoat composition is cured to form an overcoat layer that is a fluorinated structured organic film, the curing comprising treating an outer surface of the overcoat composition with at least one cross-linking process. The crosslinking process forms a cross-linking gradient in the overcoat layer. If the overcoat composition comprises the first catalyst, there is an insufficient amount of the first catalyst to fully cross-link the overcoat layer.

An image forming apparatus an electrophotographic photoconductive member, a charging unit and a delivery unit disposed in contact with the surface of the charging unit, wherein the delivery unit applies a layer of functional materials to the surface of the photoconductive member. and a cylindrical axis of the delivery unit is angled with respect to a cylindrical axis of the charging unit to increase the uniformity of the functional materials layer.

A photovoltaic device is disclosed. The photovoltaic device includes a substrate, an anode, a cathode, and a semiconducting bilayer. The bilayer is composed of a first continuous sublayer and a second continuous sublayer. The first sublayer includes a first polymorph of a metallophthalocyanine. The second sublayer includes a second polymorph of the same metallophthalocyanine. The complementary absorption profiles of the polymorphs result in a device having greater absorption and efficiency, improving performace of the photovoltaic device.

The presently disclosed embodiments relate generally to image forming systems comprising imaging apparatus members and toner compositions. More specifically, the present embodiments relate to an improved BCR xerographic system comprising (1) a cleaning blade comprising a material having a certain Share A Hardness; (2) a photoreceptor having a surface with a specified Young's Modulus and; and (3) a toner lubricant additive. The combined system demonstrates a significant increase an overall service life of the system.

Image forming system comprising effective imaging apparatus and toner pairing

A photovoltaic device is disclosed. The photovoltaic device includes a substrate, an anode, a cathode, two semiconducting layers, and an electron transporting layer. The first semiconducting layer comprises a first metallophthalocyanine. The second semiconducting layer includes a blend of a second metallophthalocyanine with an electron acceptor. The second semiconducting layer is located between the first semiconducting layer and the electron transporting layer. The first and second metallophthalocyanines have different valences. The complementary absorption profiles of these layers result in a device having greater absorption and efficiency than expected, without the need for a recombination layer or the need to match current between layers.

The present embodiments relate to methods of making a toner composition. More specifically, the present embodiments relate to methods of including a functional material into a toner composition.

Method of making toners

Methods and devices provide an electrostatically chargeable surface within a printing apparatus and cause a movable lubricant applicator to contact the electrostatically chargeable surface. The movable lubricant applicator is movable to be in contact with the electrostatically chargeable surface, or out of contact with the electrostatically chargeable surface. Such methods control the movable lubricant applicator to be in intermittent contact with the electrostatically chargeable surface during printing operations of the printing apparatus.

There is described a delivery member for use in an image forming apparatus. The delivery member includes a support member and a first layer including an elastomeric matrix, a porous material and a functional material dispersed therein. The first layer is disposed on the support member.

Delivery member for use in an image forming apparatus

The presently disclosed embodiments relate generally to an image forming apparatus comprising: a) an imaging member, b) a bias charging roller in contact with the surface of the imaging member, and c) a delivery unit in contact with the surface of the bias charge roller, wherein the delivery unit is fabricated as a polymer matrix impregnated with functional materials, such that the functional material is transferred onto the imaging member from the delivery unit via the bias charging roller. Embodiments also pertain to an improved electrophotographic imaging member comprising a very thin outer layer on the imaging member surface, where the outer layer comprises functional materials, such as paraffin, that act as a lubricant and or a barrier against moisture and/or surface contaminants. The improved imaging member exhibits improved xerographic performance, such as reduced friction and deletions in high humidity conditions.
