The present invention provides a knife block apparatus in combination with different utilities, such as a speaker and/or a display device, resulting in a compact and portable apparatus that saves floor space and provides different utilities in a single apparatus. The knife block apparatus is comprised of a knife block that has at least one slot for at least one knife, at least one speaker that is integrated into the knife block, a music player receptacle that is built into the knife block for receiving and holding a music player, such as but not limited to an MP3, and a knife-sharpening unit that is coupled to the base of the knife block. The knife block apparatus may optionally contain a computing device and a display for playing videos and other culinary content, such as recipes. The apparatus is elegant and commercially advantageous through playing coded culinary content from sponsors.

A multiple resolution imaging system employs an array of imaging devices each tracing a helical pattern on a recording medium. The imaging devices may be activated sequentially along multiple interlaced helical paths to allow a selectable image resolution with reduced imaging artifacts.

The player makes one wager to play two or more, an preferably five hands, of five cards each against a pay table and the player attempts to make the highest ranking five card poker hand in each hand. Using a standard deck of fifty-two playing cards, two cards are dealt face up and are the community cards that are common to each hand. The remaining three cards for each hand are dealt face down. The player may discard none, one or both of the face up community cards and receives replacement cards for the discarded cards, if any. The player may double his wager before or after the draw step. When the draw step is completed and the player has doubled his wager or not, the player presses the deal button and the remaining three face down cards are revealed. The player wins on any five card hand that has a preestablished poker hand ranking as shown in the pay table. The amount won by the player is based on the poker hand ranking of each hand and the amount wagered by the player. In one variation, a sixty-five card deck is used which has five thirteen card suits. A payout multiplier feature may be used which randomly appears during the play of the game to increase the payouts made to the player.

Apparatus and methods for imaging lithographic plates using laser devices that emit in the near-infrared region, and plates suitable for imaging with the apparatus and methods. Laser output either ablates one or more plate layers or physically transforms a surface layer, in either case resulting in an imagewise pattern of features on the plate. The image features exhibit an affinity for ink and/or a fluid to which ink will not adhere that differs from that of unexposed areas.

Laser-driven method and apparatus for lithographic imaging and printing

Multiple winding mechanisms are disposed within a single cylinder, such as the plate cylinder of a printing press, and are actuable so as to pay out material across different cylinder segments. Radiation passes through at least one discrete layer of a printing member and ablates one or more underlying layers, resulting in an imagewise pattern of features on the printing member. The radiation is obtained from a laser diode and its dispersion reduced to produce an image spot with maximum depth-of-focus tolerance.

Apparatus for laser-discharge imaging including beam-guiding assemblies

A focusing assembly includes features that allow numerical aperture to be reduced and optimized by reducing aberrations and ghost reflections and easily controlling stop size, thereby increasing depth-of-focus. The assembly includes a single, bi-aspheric focusing lens that optimizes image quality at a specific off-axis field point. Passage of excessively divergent radiation is prevented by a baffle having a sharp, flared edge that minimizes reflection. A second aperture or baffle can be included to restrict high-divergence radiation emerging from the bi-aspheric focusing lens. All interior surfaces of the focusing assembly are preferably blackened, once again to minimize internal reflections.

Apparatus for laser-discharge imaging and focusing elements for use

Seamless, sleeve-shaped dry and wet lithographic printing members that can be recycled after use include a strong, durable, hollow cylinder or sleeve that is attached to the plate mandrel or cylinder jacket of an offset printing press or platemaking apparatus. In one version, the sleeve is surrounded by a photopolymer, which is itself surrounded by a mask coating opaque to radiation that is actinic with respect to the photopolymer. Subsequently, the imaged construction is exposed to actinic radiation, and the unexposed photopolymer, along with the overlying mask, is removed by ordinary chemical means. In another version, a thermally transferable material surrounds a cylinder, and is itself surrounded by a withdrawal layer. Exposure of the thermally transferable layer to laser radiation adheres the transferable layer to the cylinder, and the adhered layer exhibits an affinity for fountain solution and/or ink opposite to that exhibited by the cylinder. The withdrawal layer is then peeled away, leaving exposed portions adhered to the cylinder.

Seamless offset lithographic printing members for use with

Seamless, sleeve-shaped dry and wet lithographic printing members that can be recycled after use are disclosed, along with methods for their manufacture and use. The members include a strong, durable, hollow cylinder or sleeve that is attached to the plate mandrel or cylinder jacket of an offset printing press or platemaking apparatus. Surrounding the sleeve is a layer of a material, preferably polymeric in nature, which is characterized by efficient, ablative absorption of laser radiation, as well as other layers that facilitate imaging and subsequent printing. A layer disposed beneath the ablatable layer reflects unabsorbed imaging radiation back into the ablatable layer.
