One general aspect includes a system to establish a deployment force for an airbag of a vehicle, the system includes: a memory configured to include one or more executable instructions and a processor configured to execute the executable instructions, where the executable instructions enable the processor to carry out the following steps: monitoring a head position of a vehicle occupant; based on the monitored head position, calculating a distance of a body part of a vehicle operator relative to a portion of an interior cabin of the vehicle; and based on the distance of the body part, establishing the deployment force for the airbag.

An autonomous vehicle, system and method of operating an autonomous vehicle. The system includes a processor for operating an external condition awareness module, a driver driving behavior awareness module and an escalator module: The external condition awareness module is configured to determine an intelligent escalation factor based on an external condition of an environment and driving traffic conditions of the autonomous vehicle. The driver driving behavior awareness module is configured to generate a behavior disciplining factor based on a behavior history of a driver of the autonomous vehicle. The escalation module is configured to generate an escalation signal to alert the driver based on the intelligent escalation factor and the behavior disciplining factor, a driver attention level and a speed of the vehicle.

Intelligent escalation strategy for autonomous vehicle

A system and method of controlling a continuously variable transmission with variator speed ratio (VSR) closed-loop feedback is provided. The method includes determining a desired VSR based on at least one of the driver and vehicle inputs, determining a motor position adjustment needed to adjust the position of a roller to achieve the desired VSR, driving the motor based on the determined motor position adjustment needed, sensing a transmission output speed as the motor is being driven, determining an actual VSR as the motor is being driven, and providing closed-loop feedback corresponding to any difference between the actual VSR and the desired VSR and driving the motor to eliminate the difference, thereby achieving the desired VSR.

Control system and method for continuously variable transmission with variator speed ratio closed-loop feedback

An engine control module includes a deceleration fuel cutoff (DFCO) module, an actuator control module, and a rolling neutral (RN) module. The DFCO module determines whether to disable provision of fuel to an engine when a vehicle speed is greater than zero and selectively generates a DFCO signal based on the determination. The actuator control module disables the provision of fuel to the engine when the DFCO signal is generated. The RN module selectively generates an RN mode signal in response to a determination that the DFCO module is not generating the DFCO signal. The actuator control module controls the provision of fuel to the engine based on a desired engine speed when the RN mode signal is generated. A transmission control module disengages first and second input clutches of a dual clutch transmission (DCT) to decouple the DCT from the engine when the RN mode signal is generated.

A control system for a transmission of a vehicle including an engine includes a deceleration fuel cutoff (DFCO) module and an accumulator module. The DFCO module initiates a DECO period of engine operation. The accumulator module increases a working pressure of a transmission accumulator in response to a start of the DFCO period. A method for controlling a transmission of a vehicle including an engine includes initiating a DECO period of engine operation, and increasing a working pressure of a transmission accumulator in response to a start of the DFCO period.

An auto-stop/start system for a vehicle includes an object identification module, a distance determination module, and an auto-stop/start control module. The object identification module determines a location of an object that is in a path of the vehicle. The distance determination module determines a distance between the vehicle and the location of the object. The auto-stop/start control module selectively disables provision of fuel to an engine of the vehicle while an ignition system of the vehicle is ON based on the distance.

Method of encoding and storing in a machine control computer a compressed data lookup table

A dual spring hold down for use with wood working tools, such as table saws, routers and shapers comprises a bracket mounted on the wood working table behind the tool and a hold down bar pivotably attached to the bracket with the hold down bar surrounding the wood working tool. A threaded rod is threaded into and extends upward from an extension arm of the bracket and though a slot in a hold down bar cross plate. A first coil spring surrounds the threaded rod immediately above the cross plate and a second, stronger coil spring surrounds the threaded rod above the first coil spring while a cylindrical sleeve surrounds the first coil spring. The hold down bar is free to drop down to act as a safety barrier when no wood panel is present. Then, initial lifting of the hold down bar by a wood panel is initially against the relatively light downward bias of the first coil spring until the sleeve is lifted to a &ldquo;hold down height&rdquo; at a point sufficient to compress the first coil spring within the sleeve. Further lifting of the hold down bar is then against the considerably stronger downward bias of the second coil spring which provides the hold down bias. The hold down height of the hold down bar is adjustable by threading the threaded rod upward or downward.
