A bracket () holds a wire () adjacent a magnetic surface (). The bracket () includes a retaining member () with a magnetic attracting end () and a retaining end (). The retaining member () is shaped to accept the wire () between the magnetic attracting end () and the retaining end () while holding the wire () adjacent the magnetic surface () when the retaining member () is held to the magnetic surface (). The retaining member () is formed of a plastic material that is flexible to form a plurality of holding shapes and sturdy to retain one of the plurality of holding shapes to correspond to the magnetic surface () of a planar or non-planar configuration. The magnetic attracting end () and the retaining end () can each include a cavity () to receive and fit magnetic attractors (). The magnetic attractors () can each have a length longer than a width and have elongated magnetic forces which are generally perpendicular to an axis extending between the magnetic attracting end () and the retaining end () of the retaining member (). In other aspects, the wire () is held on a nonmagnetic surface by placing the wire () adjacent to the nonmagnetic surface and to first and second magnet attractive fasteners () that have been attached to the nonmagnetic surface. While constraining the wire () within the bracket (), the first and second magnetic attractors () are attached to the first and second magnet attractive fasteners (), respectively, thereby holding the wire () adjacent the nonmagnetic surface.

Brackets and methods for holding wires utilizing magnetic force

An accessory ( ) for a wrench socket ( ) is disclosed including a generally cylindrical magnet ( ) secured to a generally cylindrical, nonmagnetic, disk ( ). Accessory ( ) is held within the socket ( ) by snugly fitting the disk ( ) formed of compressible material within the well ( ) and/or by the magnetic attraction of the magnet ( ) with the socket ( ). The accessory ( ) is removably insertable into the socket ( ) of any design and model and without need for modification of the socket ( ) and captures a spark plug ( ) slideably received in the well ( ) of the socket ( ) to magnetically hold the spark plug ( ) captive in the well ( ) as the socket ( ) is moved to the fastening location while not magnetizing the socket ( ) or the spark plug ( ) sufficiently to be detrimentally magnetically attracted to metal adjacent to the fastening location. Specifically, the connecting nut ( ) and insulator ( ) of the spark plug ( ) are insertable through an axial bore ( ) formed in the disk ( ) for access to the magnet ( ). In preferred forms, the magnet ( ) includes an axial passage ( ) for slideable receipt of the connecting nut ( ). In a further preferred form, an interconnecting bore ( ) extends between the axial bore ( ) and the magnet ( ) for passage of the connecting nut ( ).

Magnetic spark plug keeper accessory for wrench sockets

An accessory (,) for a wrench socket (,) is disclosed including a generally cylindrical magnet (,) secured to a generally cylindrical, nonmagnetic, compressible disk (,) which snugly fits within the well (,) and magnetically insulates the magnet (,) from the socket (,). The accessory (,) is removably insertable into the socket (,) of any design and model and without need for modification of the socket (,) and captures a spark plug (,) slideably received in the well (,) of the socket (,) to magnetically hold the spark plug (,) captive in the well (,) as the socket (,) is moved to the fastening location while not magnetizing the socket (,) or the spark plug (,) sufficiently to be detrimentally magnetically attracted to metal adjacent to the fastening location. Specifically, the connecting nut (,) and insulator (,) of the spark plug (,) are insertable through an axial bore (,) formed in the disk (,) for access to the magnet (,). In a preferred form, the magnet (,) includes an axial passage (,) for slideable receipt of the connecting nut (,). In a further preferred form, an interconnecting bore (,) extends between the axial bore (,) and the magnet (,) for passage of the connecting nut (,).

An accessory (10) for a wrench socket (12) is disclosed including a generally cylindrical magnet (32) secured to a generally cylindrical, nonmagnetic, compressible disk (26) which snugly fits within the well (14) and magnetically insulates the magnet (32) from the socket (12). Specifically, the magnet (32) is received in a frustoconical recess (46) formed in the disk (26) while its temperature is elevated allowing the disk material to flex and stretch during the insertion of the magnet (32) into the recess (46). The magnet (32) is nickel-plated (43) and its corners are beveled (41) for ease of insertion of the magnet (32) into the recess (46). Air is received within a pocket (51) extending from the recess (46) and/or vented to the atmosphere through a vent hole (53) as the magnet (32) is forced into the recess (46). The accessory (10) is removably insertable into the socket (12) of any design and model and without need for modification of the socket (12) and captures a fastener (16) slideably received in the well (14) of the socket (12) to magnetically hold the fastener (16) captive in the well (14) as the socket (12) is moved to the fastening location while not magnetizing the socket (12) or the fastener (16) sufficiently to be detrimentally magnetically attracted to metal adjacent to the fastening location. In the most preferred form, a set of multiple accessories (10) are interconnected together by strips (62) integrally extending between the disks (26) for ease of fabrication and packaging but which can be manually broken to allow separation.

Magnetic keeper accessory for wrench sockets

An accessory (10) for a wrench socket (12) is disclosed including a generally cylindrical magnet (32) secured to a generally cylindrical, nonmagnetic, compressible disk (26). Specifically, the magnet (32) is received in a recess (46) formed in the disk (26) and secured to the disk (26) by a layer (60) of a size larger than and extending over the face (36) of the magnet (32) and integrally secured around its entire periphery to the face (44) of the disk (26). The disk (26) snuggly fits within the well (14) and magnetically insulates the magnet (32) from the socket (12). The magnet (32) has a size smaller than the well (14) and is generally concentric within the well (14), with an air space being created between the magnet (32) and the well (14) for magnetically insulating the magnet (32) from the socket (12) in the most preferred form. The accessory (10) is removably insertable into the socket (12) of any design and model and without need for modification of the socket (12) and captures a fastener (16) slideably received in the well (14) of the socket (12) to magnetically hold the fastener (16) captive in the well (14) as the socket (12) is moved to the fastening location while not magnetizing the socket (12) or the fastener (16) sufficiently to be detrimentally magnetically attracted to metal adjacent to the fastening location. In the most preferred form, the disk (26) further includes a second portion (54) of a size smaller than the first portion (52) for receipt in a connection passage (58) located intermediate the well (14) and the handle mounting end of the socket (12) and which is especially advantageous for sockets (12) having shallow depth wells (14).

Magnetic keeper for wrench sockets

An accessory (10) for a wrench socket (12) is disclosed including a generally cylindrical magnet (32) secured to a generally cylindrical, nonmagnetic, compressible disk (26, 126). The disk (26, 126) has a shape having at least a portion (52) extending over the inner periphery of the well (14) of the socket (12) and is deformable under force to pass into and snuggly fit within the well (14) and magnetically insulate the magnet (32) from the socket (12). The magnet (32) has a size smaller than the well (14) and is secured to the disk (26, 126) generally concentrically within the well (14), with an air space being created between the magnet (32) and the well (14) for magnetically insulating the magnet (32) from the socket (12) in the most preferred form. The accessory (10) is removably insertable into the socket (12) of any design and model and without need for modification of the socket (12) and captures a fastener (16) slideably received in the well (14) of the socket (12) to magnetically hold the fastener (16) captive in the well (14) as the socket (12) is moved to the fastening location while not magnetizing the socket (12) or the fastener (16) sufficiently to be detrimentally magnetically attracted to metal adjacent to the fastening location. In preferred forms, the magnet (32) is received in a recess (46) formed in the disk (26, 126). In a further preferred form, the disk (126) further includes a second portion (54) of a size smaller than the first portion (52) for receipt in a connection passage (58) located intermediate the well (14) and the handle mounting end of the socket (12) and which is especially advantageous for sockets (12) having shallow depth wells (14).

The recess (46) is also shown as being frusto-conical in shape and as including an undercut (50) to hold a complementary shaped and sized magnet (32) in the recess (46) without requiring the use of glue or adhesive.

The accessory (10) is removably insertable into the socket (12) of any design and model and without need for modification of the socket (12) and captures a fastener (16 ) slideably received in the well (14) of the socket (12) to magnetically hold the fastener (16) captive in the well (14) as the socket (12) is moved to the fastening location while not magnetizing the socket (12) or the fastener (16) sufficiently to be detrimentally magnetically attracted to metal adjacent to the fastening location.
