Tire strap for securing a vehicle during transport

In a tie down system and method for securing a vehicle tire to a wire grate, a slotted overlay panel rest on top of the wire grate. A clevis assembly having one end of a tire trap assembly attached thereto is provided along with the winch assembly having a winch for receiving an opposite end of the tire strap assembly. Each of the clevis assembly and winch assembly have a T hook with a T portion which is insertable through a respective slot of the overlay panel.

In a lashing strap hook load securing system for securing a load on a load platform, the load platform has first and second pockets each having an open top and bottom and an end wall at sides of the platform. A lashing strap is provided with an associated strap winch for placement over the load on the load platform. First and second lashing strap hooks are provided, each lashing strap hook having a hook portion merging into a lashing strap retaining portion. The hook portion is shaped for engagement with an upper edge of the end wall of the respective pocket and comprises an outer bridging surface having a width at least equal to a width of the lashing strap and bounded at side edges by first and second respective guide surfaces extending above the outer bridging surface. The hook retaining portion comprises first and second retaining elements spaced apart to define a slot therebetween. The second retaining element is at an end of the retaining portion and the first retaining element is inwardly of the second retaining element. The first and second retaining elements and the slot are dimensioned to receive an end of the lashing strap threaded around each of the first and second retaining elements and inserted through the slot. With the hook having its retaining portion in a longitudinally extending vertical alignment, the lashing strap passes over and onto the bridging surface to assist in retaining the hook portion on the upper edge of the pocket.

A vehicle tire tie-down winch and chock assembly ties down at least one tire of a vehicle on a load carrying platform with a tire harness. The load carrying platform has at least one raised rib with elongated apertures at a top surface of the rib. The assembly has a chock surface and a rotating lock mechanism with an elongated lock element which in an insertion position fits within one of the apertures in the rib and in a locking position has its longitudinal extent substantially perpendicular to a longitudinal extent of the elongated aperture to engage the aperture. At least one hook is engageable in another of the elongated apertures of the rib or in an elongated aperture of another rib at the platform. A winch is provided on the assembly which secures to an end of the tire harness. The winch may have a foot pedal release.

Vehicle tire tie-down system and method

A swing up post is provided for attachment to a banding anchor used for securing a load-retaining band on a deck. At least one ear is provided having a respective aperture for receiving a bolt used to rotatably secure the at least one ear to a support surface associated with the deck. A retaining portion is connected to the at least one ear to retain the banding anchor. An end plate is provided at the end of the retaining portion which retains the banding anchor on the retaining portion. In a load retaining position, the swing up post is in a swung up position and in a storage position the swing up post is in a hung down position.

In a system and method for stabilizing a first stack of upper and lower shipping containers with respect to a second stack of upper and lower shipping containers, inter-box connectors are provided for connecting the upper and lower containers of each stack. A container bridging stabilizer is provided which surrounds two of the adjacent inter-box connectors where the two lower containers are laterally adjacent each other to laterally link the inter-box connectors and their respective lower containers together. The container bridging stabilizer laterally stabilizes the first and second stacks with respect to each other.

A cushioned banding anchor for securement of a load to a loading platform by use of a band having a loop at least at one end, and a banding anchor body with a cushioned roller retained within an inside aperture of the anchor body. The cushioned roller is designed to be positioned within the loop of the band. The banding anchor body has a loop portion at one end which is connected to the loading platform.

In a method and system for tying a tire of a vehicle on a load carrying platform, at least first and second integral winch and chock assemblies are aligned at both ends of at least one of the tires of the vehicle so that a chock surface of the respective assemblies abuts the tire at both ends thereof. Each of the assemblies is providing with a winding mandrel. The winch and chock assemblies are locked to the platform to prevent lateral, longitudinal and vertical movement of the assemblies. A tire harness connects to the two winch and chock assemblies, the tire harness wrapping around a top portion of the tire. At least one or both of the winding mandrels of the winch and chock assemblies are then rotated to tighten the harness on the tire.

A securement system for vertically upstanding articles on a platform such as paper rolls inside a boxcar includes vertical anchor channels, the anchor channels having notches along their length for setting a position of spools carried by the channels. The spools hold coiled webbing and one of the webbings includes a ratchet buckle fastener. The webbings can be uncoiled from the spools to the desired length to wrap around the vertical articles and secure the vertical articles using the fastener. In an alternative embodiment, movable elements finctioning as anchors for ends of the webs are vertically positionable along verticle anchor channels.

A securement system for a centerbeam railcar for securing lumber or like products includes overhead spools for holding polyester webbing straps, and columns arranged along a length of the railcar having horizontally arranged intermediate web posts for receiving the straps partially wrapped around the intermediate web posts, and winches secured to a bottom side sill of the floor structure of the railcar for receiving an end of the webbing straps to pull the webbing straps tight on the cargo. A plurality of the intermediate web posts are provided vertically arranged to change the effective holding shape of the web onto a varying cargo height.

An adjustable guide assembly for mounting on the upper edge of a longitudinal retaining wall defining a cargo container well of a well car adapted for accommodating containers of different widths in the well, has a base member and a rockable guide member. The guide member has a narrow-container stabilizer surface, a narrow-container loading assistance cam surface, and a wide-container loading assistance cam surface, which are selectively operative by swingably positioning the guide member relative to the base member.

A hold down device is provided to engage and hold down adjacent ends of containers on a flat bed vehicle. The hold down device includes four twist locks being two longitudinally spaced pairs of twist locks, each pair being two laterally spaced twist locks which hold down each end of a container. The twist locks are spring loaded so that they will be continuously biased into a protruding operative position, yet capable of being automatically recessed when a long container is set down over the hold down device. A connecting apparatus is provided to inter-connect all four twist locks for simultaneous movement between a locked and unlocked position and an over-center spring is provided to hold the twist locks in the currently selected position.

Idler for a low profile tie down

Low-height reversible ratchet tie-down winch for flat decked vehicles. The tie-down winches are adjustably mounted in retainer channels extending along each side of the deck of the vehicle. Each winch is rotatably mounted between the top and bottom walls of its base and tension of the tie-down chain is maintained by a pawl and ratchet. The winch block has a chain pocket to lock a horizontal link of the chain to the chain pocket and a recessed portion engaging a next adjacent vertical link of the chain. The ratchet has a cooperating pocket engageable with a next adjacent vertical link of the chain and completing the chain pocket in the winch block. The chain may be trained through one end or the other of the base for the winch.

Adjustable twist lock assembly for locking containers in position on the deck of a flatbed vehicle in which the vehicle has a C-channel extending along each side and opening toward the outside, and the top flange of the channel is at deck level. Each channel has openings in its top flange to accommodate a twist lock to be extended above floor level through a selected opening to enter a container fitting and thereby accommodate the twist lock to containers of varying lengths. The twist lock assembly includes a framework conforming to the inside of the channel and slidable therealong and having an open top to accommodate extension of the twist lock above the channel. The twist lock has an elongated locking head with a depending stud pivotally carried in a lock housing, guided for vertical movement along the framework. A camming member is transversely pivoted to the stud, and a handle, accessible through the C-channel and an opening in the framework, extends from the camming member for manually moving the camming member to cam the lock housing and stud vertically and then turn the camming member and stud at least 90.degree. to lockingly engage the locking head of the twist lock with a container fitting.
