The present method includes graphene, preferably in the form of flat graphene oxide flakes with, by mass, preferably between 0.5% and 35% PAN. The graphene oxide and conductive-polymer PAN is in a co-suspension in water and is co-deposited on a surface. The deposited PAN with a high-percentage graphene-oxide layer is dried. Our tests have produced electrical conductivities 1000 times more conductive than the PAN by itself. Our testing indicates that using flakes that are flat is essential to getting very high conductivity, and that controlled oxidation is very important in suspending graphene oxide in water.

Graphite oxide and polyacrylonitrile based composite

Graphene has been used in nanocomposites as constituents/doping in plastics or epoxy providing dramatic enhancement of the mechanical properties but have not progressed past the laboratory level novelty. This invention can provide a graphene based composite structure with a density less that 1.9 g/cmfor a fiber, yarn, rope or cable and a density less that 1.5 g/cmfor a sheet both structure have tensile and shear strength greater than either Aluminum or Steel; thus providing a graphene material that is both much lighter and stronger.

Composite graphene structures

This is generally a method of producing graphene-containing suspensions of flakes of high quality graphene/graphite oxides and method of producing graphene/graphite oxides. Both the exfoliating graphite into flakes and oxidizing the graphite flakes and the preparation and suspension of the flakes can be done with high volume production and at a low cost.

Graphene entrainment in a host

Existing methods of extrusion and other techniques to compound host and additives material uniformly disperse the additive in the host. This innovation uses ball milling to a coat a host particle with an additive dramatically reducing the additive required to achieve a percolative network in the host.

Additive coated particles for low cost high performance materials

This can be a method of making a high strength composite reinforcing fiber using flat GO flakes coated on a conventional reinforcing fiber. This maintains some the flexibility of the fiber and aligns the flat graphene flakes along the surface of the fiber; this dramatically increases the strength of the fiber. It also allows bonding between overlapping flakes, in contrast to flakes being uniformly dispersed in a host material that is being reinforced and dramatically increases the strength of the host material.

Graphite oxide reinforced fiber in hosts such as concrete or asphalt

This is generally a method of producing dispersed high quality engineered composite structures using flat flakes of graphene/graphene oxides/reduced graphene oxides in a host as the reinforcing additive of the composite.

A method of producing dispersed of high quality graphene/graphite oxides in a powder matrix to then be reacted to form a composite. Where the powders have similar hydrophobicity and the graphene/graphite oxides has minimal surface oxidation or minimal epoxy group and where the powders are sonically mixed.

Graphite oxide entrainment in cement and asphalt composite

A laser ablation method and apparatus uses a laser device to generate a pulsed laser using a laser device and to project the pulsed laser onto an ablation target to be ablated. A probe is then used to measure an indicative property of the ablation target or of the pulsed laser projected on the ablation target. A control loop is used to optimize ablation effect by generating a feedback signal according to the measured indicative property, sending the feedback signal to a control unit, and adjusting an output parameter of the pulsed laser according to the feedback signal. The measured indicative property may be a size of the laser beam spot or a material composition. The ablation, the feedback and the adjustment may be performed dynamically.

This is a way interrogating an object using retro-reflection of non-visible light. It uses e.g. IR transmitted toward the object from a distance and covertly detects the retro-reflection. Highly reflective passive non-visible light retroreflectors on the object reflects and refracts light back toward the light transmitter, with the returned light being very nearly parallel to the light from a narrow beam light transmitter.

Using of enhanced retroreflectors for non-visible light

This describes an enhanced retro-reflector that is designed to be a retro-reflector of non-visible light, but not visible, and can be designed to resemble common dust or dirt in the visible spectra. As the beads retro-reflect very little visible light they are not easily seen in visible light; thus they are difficult to counterfeit.

The present invention includes an apparatus and method of surgical ablative material removal 'in-vivo' or from an outside surface with a short optical pulse that is amplified and compressed using either an optically-pumped-amplifier and air-path between gratings compressor combination or a SOA and chirped fiber compressor combination, wherein the generating, amplifying and compressing are done within a portable system.
