Water soluble dyestuffs having at least two reactive Lewis base sites are polymerized in a condensation reaction with group IVB metallocenes or group IVA organohalides to yield linear or crosslinked, and colored and/or fluorescent polymeric products. The polydyes are useful in providing permanent coloration of paper, plastics, textiles, paints and the like.

Group IVB metal containing polydyes

An expandable polymeric styrene particle is provided from which molded foamed articles can be produced exhibiting reduced flammability characteristics. The expandable polymeric styrene particle contains a blowing agent, a minor amount of pentaerythritol tetrastearate and a minor amount of hexabromocyclododecane. The additives can be incorporated during impregnation with the blowing agent or by blending with the expandable particles after impregnation.

Foamable polymeric styrene particles

A composition and process for reducing the adhesion of expandable polystyrene beads impregnated with a blowing agent such as pentane. The composition comprises effective amounts of magnesium stearate and zinc stearate respectively. The composition is added to the polystyrene in an apparatus such as a tumble blender prior to pre-expansion of the impregnated polystyrene beads.

Expandable polystyrene composition and process

An improved expandable polymeric styrene particle is provided containing a blowing agent, a minor amount of pentaerythritol tetrastearate, overcoated with a minor amount of glyceryl monostearate. The improved particle results in a significantly reduced final mold cooling cycle in producing the finished molded article. Pentaerythritol tetrastearate is preferably incorporated during impregnation with the blowing agent and glyceryl monostearate overcoated by blending with the expandable particles after impregnation.

An expandable polymeric styrene particle is provided from which molded foamed articles can be produced exhibiting reduced flammability characteristics. The expandable polymeric styrene particle contains a blowing agent, a minor amount of bis(allyl ether) of tetrabromobisphenol A and a minor amount of dibromoethyldibromocyclohexane. The additives can be incorporated during impregnation with the blowing agent or by blending with the expandable particles after impregnation.

An improved expandable polymeric styrene particle is provided containing a blowing agent and a minor amount of ethylene-bis-stearamide and dibromoethyldibromocyclohexane. The improved particle results in a significantly reduced final mold cooling cycle in producing the finished molded article. Ethylene-bis-stearamide and dibromoethyldibromocyclohexane can be incorporated during impregnation with the blowing agent or by blending with the expandable particles after impregnation.

Formation of undesired by-product adduct during production of acrylonitrile-butadiene-styrene-acrylate copolymers is controlled by subjecting the inhibitor containing reaction mixture to a molecular-oxygen-containing gaseous atmosphere during addition of the acrylate monomer.
