Wound dressing for treating injury to nasal passages

A machine for manufacturing a stud and eyelet assembly in a web that moves continuously between the eyelet die wheel and the stud die wheel. The eyelet magazine continually supplies eyelets from an eyelet hopper to the eyelet transfer wheel, which in turn continually supplies the eyelets to the eyelet die wheel. Likewise, the stud magazine continually supplies studs from a stud hopper to the stud transfer wheel, which in turn continually supplies studs to the stud die wheel. The eyelet or stud is held on the die of the die wheel and the stripper of the transfer wheel by a vacuum. The vacuum is applied from a vacuum source through ports in each wheel to the die or stripper interface with the eyelet or stud. The vacuum in a transfer wheel operates from the point it receives an eyelet or stud from the magazine until the point where the eyelet or stud in transferred to the die wheel. Similarly, the vacuum in a die wheel operates from the point it receives the eyelet or stud from the transfer wheel to the time the eyelet and stud are assembled in the web at the nip. A single drive input rotates a gear at the base of one wheel, which in turn synchronously rotates the other wheels through a gear train at the wheel bases.

A circular EKG electrode has a plastic woven fabric body to which is attached a two-part connector. A jel impregnated disk is positioned over one part of the connector. The entire electrode is sealed in a disposable plastic package.

An improved EKG electrode and package has a rectangularly shaped foam body member which is sealingly adhered to a first side of a plastic liner. A gelled foam disk is centrally attached to the same side of the foam body member. A plastic sealing cap covering the gelled disk is attached to the other side of the polyethylene liner material. An electrical contact is centered with respect to the disk and passes through the foam body member. The inventive method includes the steps of punching a centrally located hole in the foam body member, attaching an electrical contact through said hole, applying a foam disk to the body member, adjacent one side of the electrical contact, injecting gel into said disk, and sealingly applying a formed plastic cap over the gelled disk.

EKG Electrode and package

A disposable biopsy needle, particularly for bone marrow biopsy sampling utilizing a metal cannula and stylet structure, and which otherwise may be formed from inexpensive material such as a suitable plastic. Suitable high production techniques, such as injection molding, may then be employed in the production of the remainder of the components of the structure, whereby the final product not only is of excellent design construction for the intended purpose, but also is of exceptionally low cost in manufacture, readily permitting its disposal following a single use.

Disposable biopsy needle, particularly for bone marrow samplings

A device for occluding a fluid passageway such as a blood vessel, particularly a human blood vessel, which is of the balloon type, adapted to be inserted, by means of a catheter structure, into a blood vessel and moved thereby to the desired point of occlusion, at which the ballon is expanded by means of a fluid conducted through the catheter, thereby firmly securing the occlusion device to the vessel side wall. Novel means are provided, including a dual valve mechanism for insuring the retention of the expanding fluid in the device, thereby providing efficient sealing of the balloon to substantially eliminate the possibility of fluid leakage upon separation of the occluding device from the inserting catheter structure. The invention also provides novel means for insuring firm attachment of the occlusion device to the adjacent end of the catheter structure, which prevents an undesired inadvertent separation between the occluding device and the catheter until the occluding operation is completed, with such results being achieved by utilization of the fluid conducting needle as a locking element of the connection and at the same time the actuating element for opening the valves of the occluding device.
