The technology described herein provides a molded trim assembly located externally at the top of a liftgate structure to provide an aerodynamic and stylish overhang above the liftgate glass. Furthermore, the technology also provides a liftgate exterior module including a plug-in module containing a motorized window wiper arm assembly, a central high mounted stop light, and a washer fluid spray nozzle.

Liftgate exterior module for an automotive vehicle

A closure system with a reduced out-swing reach for an opening in a body of a vehicle. The closure system has an upper portion arranged to expose at least a section of the body opening, and a lower portion which is guided by a track to an open position when the upper portion is not in a closed position.

Closure system for a vehicle

A hinge movably attaches a door to a frame member of a motor vehicle. The hinge includes a frame bracket configured for attachment to the frame member and including opposed sidewalls connected by a base, and a door bracket configured for attachment to the door and including opposed arms connected together by a bridge. A plurality of links pivotably and translatably connects the door bracket to the frame bracket. The links include a first link including second opposed arms pivotably connected to the frame bracket and to the door bracket and connected together by a second bridge, and a second link including third opposed arms pivotably connected to the frame bracket and to the door bracket and connected together by a third bridge.

Door for a vehicle

A power latching mechanism having a latch ratchet, a pawl member, a latch sector and a drive assembly. The latch ratchet is configured to selectively engage or disengage a member to secure the vehicle door to or release the vehicle door from the vehicle body. The latch ratchet is operable between a fully unlatched position and a fully latched position. The latch sector is pivotably coupled to the latch ratchet and is operable between a first extended position, a neutral position and a second extended position. The drive assembly is coupled to the latch sector and operable for selectively moving the latch sector from the neutral position to the first and second extended positions. Placement of the latch sector in the neutral position does not effect the operation the latch ratchet. Accordingly, the latch ratchet may be actuated manually to either latch or unlatch the vehicle door when the latch sector is in the returned position. Placement of the latch sector in the first extended position causes the latch ratchet to move to the fully latched position. Placement of the latch sector in the second extended position causes the latch ratchet to move to the fully unlatched position. The preferred embodiment includes a clutch mechanism which permits the latch sector to move to the neutral position when the drive assembly is not in use. The preferred embodiment also includes an unlatching mechanism which is operable for manually releasing the latch ratchet from the fully latched position.

Latching mechanism for a motor vehicle door

A drive arrangement for articulating a liftgate of a motor vehicle between an open position and a closed position under a source of power. The liftgate is mounted to a body of the motor vehicle for articulation about a horizontally extending pivot axis. The drive arrangement includes a mounting member for attachment to the body of the motor vehicle. A drive motor is attached to the mounting member. A first gear is ultimately driven by the drive motor. A crank arm is pivotally interconnected to the mounting member. The crank arm includes a second gear in meshing relationship with the first gear. The second gear is preferably a sector gear having a plurality of teeth formed on a concavely curved surface thereof. A linkage has a first end attached to the crank arm and a second end for attachment to the liftgate.

Drive arrangement for a motor vehicle closure panel

A clerk paging system for retail stores wherein a customer can push a 'help' button on a call box, there being a call box in each department of the store, and the system automatically provides a stored, paging message to the store's existing paging system, including public address systems and radio systems, the message asking for help at the department in which the customer pushed the 'help' button. The system automatically repeats the message with a preset time interval between messages, but only until a clerk pushes a 'reset' switch on the same call box upon which the 'help' button was pushed. To assist telephoning customers, clerks are paged using a two-part message. The first part of the message, typically a department name, is determined by a button pushed by the store's telephone operator. The system automatically determines the second part of the message, consisting of the telephone line number, by monitoring phone line status. A typical resulting message would be 'Plumbing, Line Two'. The system automatically repeats the message with a preset time interval between messages, but only so long as the customer is on the phone line waiting for service.
