A fiber optic lighting system connector for coupling a fiber optic cable to another fiber optic cable, or a light source, or a light fixture. The connector includes a sleeve member having a plurality of resilient fingers and an axial bore for receiving a fiber optic cable end portion. A cap is non-threadably coupled to the sleeve member and movable axially about the resilient fingers between first and second positions to constrict the resilient fingers about a fiber optic cable end portion or conductor member for axial retention thereof in the axial bore. The resilient fingers preferably include first and second recesses in corresponding side portions thereof, and a tooth disposed between and offset from the first and second recesses.

Fiber optic lighting system connector

A plastic fastener, for example, a one-piece plastic rivet having a head and a bifurcated oval shank and expander means capable of axial movement within a tapered bore traversing the head and shank. Each portion of the shank has a longitudinally disposed radial relief means that provides a buckle or hinge section having generally uniform radial thickness which opens into the tapered bore to provide pairs of edges falling on the surface of the bore which, when the edges are contacted by the expander means, may cause the shank portions to be moved radially and to be expanded circumferentially as well. Positive locking means are also provided for restricting movement of the expander means after driving it into the shank bore.

Plastic fastener

A one-piece plastic closure device for use in a filler hole, i.e. an oil filler cap or crankcase vent means, which seals the hole from the outside and can be applied with a fractional turn of the closure. The closure is adapted for use in a panel with an aperture having communicating lateral slots which telescopically accepts spring controlled retainer pads extending laterally from the closure body and that are moved to underlying relationship with the panel by rotation of the closure; the spring means acting on said retainer pads insuring continued sealing engagement of the closure with the panel.

Rotatable closure device

The embodiment of the invention disclosed herein is directed to a fastener structure which has a pair of spaced apart prongs extending from a head portion thereof for insertion through aperture means formed in a thin panel. The prongs extend from a head portion which is to be positioned on one side of the panel and have shoulder portions extending transversely thereof to engage the other side of the panel after the fastener is inserted into the panel. The prongs have a neck portion formed between the head portion and the shoulder portion to be in registry with the thickness of the panel after the fastener is in place. The neck portion has a varying cross-section, when viewed in a plane parallel to the panel, with a thin portion at one end of the neck and a thick portion at the other end of the neck for providing different degrees of flexure therealong. The prongs, as they are inserted through the panel, will flex and twist toward one another with the greatest degree of flexure taking place at the thin portions of the necks.
