Described is a polymeric coextruded multilayer web, the web comprising: at least two layers that are discontinuous in the cross-web direction, each layer comprising a plurality of distinct phases that are substantially continuous in the down-web direction; and at least one layer that is substantially continuous in both the cross-web and down-web directions; wherein said web has an x-axis that is in the cross-web direction of the web, a y-axis that is in the down-web direction of the web and a z-axis that is in the thickness direction of the web, and wherein the substantially continuous layer(s) lacks weld lines in the y-z plane of the web.

Polymeric coextruded multilayer articles

A multi-layer sheet material comprises a film, and adhesive layer and an optional release liner. The film is a polyester blend comprising first and second polyesters that are substantially amorphous and possess certain physical properties including softening temperature, E-modulus, elongation and residual stress.

Conformable multi-layer sheet materials

Disclosed is a composite pressure-sensitive adhesive comprising from about 95 to about 5 parts by weight of an acrylic pressure-sensitive adhesive; from about 5 to about 95 parts by weight of an at least partially soluble (in a solvent) polymer, and a compatibilizer present in the composite pressure-sensitive adhesive in an amount greater than 0 to about 10 parts by weight of the composite pressure-sensitive adhesive. The polymer is selected from the group consisting of a butadiene-containing polymer, an isoprene-containing polymer, a saturated olefin-containing polymer, and a styrene-containing polymer. The compatibilizer in the adhesive has a structure selected from the group consisting of (1) an acrylic adhesive-compatible segment and a polymer-compatible segment wherein at least a portion of the compatibilizer is present throughout either the acrylic adhesive, the polymer, or both, and (2) an acrylic adhesive-reactive segment and a polymer-compatible segment wherein at least a portion of the compatibilizer is present throughout the polymer.

Conformable multilayer films

Tape backing compositions of the present invention comprise a blend of a first relatively flexible and second relative inflexible polymer, the two polymers having a melting temperature of at least about 93&deg; C. (200&deg; F.). Tape backing compositions of the present invention are especially useful for making flexible films and tapes. Such films and tapes advantageously possess properties particularly useful for applications involving elevated temperatures, such as auto paint masking tape applications, where the flexible film is used as a backing. In one embodiment, the backing is chloride-free. In another embodiment, the backing is essentially free of plasticizers.

Polymer blends and tapes therefrom

The present invention provides unified multilayer films having at least one layer that includes a flame retardant film layer. In preferred embodiments the flame retardant film layer is an internal layer. In particularly preferred embodiments of the present invention, multilayer films include flame retardant layers alternating with non flame retardant layers. In other preferred embodiments, multilayer films include alternating layer of different flame retardant materials.

Multilayer films having at least five film layers, wherein at least one layer is flame retardant

Microporous articles formed by thermally induced phase separation from a diluent in combination with a thermoplastic polymer and a flame retardant providing novel flame retardant articles. Such articles are useful in clothing, wall or roofing barriers, optical films in electronic devices (such as light reflective and dispersive films), printing substrates and electrical insulation.

Flame retardant microporous materials

The present invention provides unified multilayer films having at least one internal layer that includes a pressure sensitive adhesive material. Preferably, multilayer films of the present invention are no greater than about 250 micrometers (.mu.m) thick. In particularly preferred embodiments of the present invention, multilayer films include layers that include a pressure sensitive adhesive material alternating with layers that include a material that is not a pressure sensitive adhesive. In other preferred embodiments, multilayer films include alternating layers of different pressure sensitive adhesive materials.
