A graphical block diagram can be used to execute multiple operating modes, such as a code generation or simulation mode. The graphical block diagram may include at least a first graphical block used solely in a first operating mode and a second graphical block used solely in a second operating mode. Each of the first and second graphical blocks includes a respective input receiving an input from a defined mode block. The defined mode block produces a mode output indicating a selection of one of the multiple operating modes. Other blocks of the graphical block diagram may be used in more than one operating mode. Depending on the value of the mode output, the graphical block diagram is interpreted according to the first or second operating mode. More than two operating modes are possible. The techniques described herein improve a model-based development platform.

The present disclosure provides systems and methods related to determining observed applied brake force of an aircraft braking system. In various embodiments, a system for calculating observed applied force comprises a current sensor in communication with a controller, a position sensor in communication with the controller and configured to measure a rotational speed of a motor shaft, and a tangible, non-transitory memory configured to communicate with the controller. In various embodiments, the tangible, non-transitory memory may have instructions stored thereon that, in response to execution by the controller, cause the controller to perform operations comprising receiving, by the controller, a motor current from the current sensor at a first time, calculating, by the controller, a first electromagnetic torque, calculating, by the controller, a first flywheel angular velocity, receiving, by the controller, a motor shaft angular velocity from the position sensor at a second time, subtracting, by the controller, the first flywheel angular velocity and the motor shaft angular velocity received at the second time to obtain a first angular velocity difference, calculating, by the controller, a first observed disturbance torque, and calculating, by the controller, a first observed applied force.

What is described is a system for determining a force applied to an outer disc of an aircraft brake by an actuator motor. The system includes a current sensor coupled to the actuator motor and configured to detect a detected amount of current applied to the actuator motor. The system also includes a controller coupled to the current sensor. The controller is configured to determine an estimated current. The controller is also configured to receive the detected amount of current. The controller is also configured to determine an adjusted current based on the detected amount of current and the estimated current. The controller is also configured to determine an estimate of the force applied to the outer disc based on the adjusted current.

A temperature regulating system utilizes changing energy price information to alter the system operation. A performance index value is determined that indicates a balance between a user's preference for maintaining a setpoint temperature and a need for maintaining energy cost savings. The performance index value is related to the current energy price and the system automatically responds to rising energy prices by reducing system operation in a manner that provides cost savings according to a user's specified preference for weighting temperature comfort levels compared to energy cost savings. According to the described example, an optimal control solution is used to determine the performance index value.

A feedforward control method for an absorption chiller includes determining the disturbance transfer function, determining the capacity valve transfer function, measuring the actual disturbance, and implementing the feedforward control function in a feedforward controller. The feedforward control function is represented by the ratio of the disturbance transfer function divided by the capacity valve transfer function. The disturbance transfer function and the capacity valve transfer function are measured by applying a known amplitude input perturbation to the disturbance or capacity valve and recording the resulting perturbation in the output leaving chilled water temp. The disturbance transfer function is then the ratio of the delta leaving chilled water temperature divided by the delta change in the disturbance. The capacity transfer function is the ratio of the delta leaving chilled water temperature divided by the delta change in the capacity valve.

Feedforward control for absorption chiller

Data points are determined for an absorption chiller system which relate a position of the capacity valve to the heat input into the system. A continuous curve is determined which estimates the relationship between the position of the capacity valve and the heat input for all of the data points and all the points in between. The slope of this curve is the valve gain. The error for the system is defined as the difference between the setpoint and the leaving chilled water temperature. The leaving chilled water temperature of the system is measured to determine the actual error for the system, after which a linearizing gain derived as a function of the inverse of the valve gain is used in the system control algorithm to linearize the overall valve gain, thereby eliminating capacity valve hunting and producing an improved transient response.

Method and apparatus for capacity valve calibration for snapp absorption chiller

A system for estimating energy cost savings during curtailment periods, for example, determines an estimated temperature in the zone during the period of interest as if the thermostat were set at a temperature different than the actual set point temperature. By determining a difference in the estimated temperature in the zone and the actual temperature over time, the amount of energy savings can be estimated. Applying real time energy cost data to the estimated energy savings provides a real time estimation of actual cost savings during a selected period. The inventive estimation technique includes determining an equilibrium condition for the zone as part of the estimation process.

Energy consumption estimation using real time pricing information

A method of controlling the capacity of an absorption chiller by regulating the heat input to a generator in response to a selected one of two system variables. The first variable involves the measured chilled water temperature leaving the system evaporator and the second involves the calculated solution concentration that is being returned to the absorber. Data relating to each variable is sent to a selector where it is processed so that the data can be used to control the heat input to the generator. The temperature data is used to control the heat input during normal chiller operation, however, the selector changes over control to the concentrate related data when the solution concentration level approaches the solution crystallization limit.
