An electronic device for simulating load currents when testing a tow-vehicle brake controller is described. The electronic device utilizes current monitoring circuitry to measure a current of an input signal from the tow vehicle. The electronic device also includes a series of resistors that are arranged in parallel on the input signal as wells a series of switches (e.g., relays or transistors) that can activate and deactivate each one of the resistors. Microcontroller circuitry within the electronic device controls the series of switches based on the measured current of the input signal, and, by extension, controls the series of resistors applied to the input signal. In so doing, the electronic device is able to simulate a desired load current on the tow-vehicle brake controller being tested.

Load current simulator

A diagnostic tool connected to an anti-lock braking system (ABS system) is described. The diagnostic tool is capable of powering on the ABS system and measuring the load current of the ABS system while the ABS system starts up. This startup load current signature is then compared to what is considered a normal startup load current signature. Such a comparison allows the diagnostic tool to determine whether the ABS system is functioning properly or whether there is a fault with the ABS system. Additional features on the diagnostic tool also allow the tool to communicate with the ABS system via power-line communications (PLC communications) and to determine whether there are any issues with those communications. Finally, the diagnostic tool is able to receive and translate any stored or active ABS fault codes generated by the ABS system and to display those fault codes to the user.

Diagnostic tool for anti-lock braking systems

Energetic firing device using a boost circuit to ensure an energetic fire circuit is charged to an All-Fire voltage even if a power source is not capable of providing necessary voltage. Boost circuit may be located between power source and energetic fire circuit and increase voltage provided by the power source when enabled. Boost circuit may be located between system logic and the energetic fire circuit and generate the All-Fire voltage when enabled. The boost circuit may generate the All-Fire voltage from an enable signal and a pulse train provided by the system logic. The boost circuit may be a switching power supply that may regulate the All-Fire voltage generated. The boost circuit may be a capacitive voltage multiplier. The boost circuit may remove power from being provided to the energetic fire circuit until enabled thus reducing system power and increasing safety.

Energetic firing device boosting system voltage as required for energetic initiation

An apparatus is described that receives a brake control signal from the brake controller of a tow vehicle, and displays characteristics of that brake control signal including commanded brake force. The apparatus includes a data processor, brake simulation circuitry, brake integration circuitry, and display circuitry. The brake simulation circuitry sequentially applies several parallel resistors to the brake control signal in response to commands received from the data processor. These parallel resistors cause the load current on the brake controller to ramp up, mimicking the electrical signature of electric trailer brakes. At the same time, the brake integration circuitry integrates the brake control signal. Lastly, the display circuitry displays an indication of a value of the integrated brake control signal.

Brake controller tester

An LED retrofit tube that has an outer body that is substantially a lens so as to enable light generated by LEDs and light reflected therewithin to pass through substantially the entire tube. The tube includes an extrusion to support a circuit board having light emitting diodes (LEDs) mounted thereto. The extrusion is located substantially with the lens. The circuit boards may include LEDs mounted on both sides to provide primary lighting and secondary lighting (backlighting). The extrusion may include grooves to allow the backlighting to pass therethrough. Rotational endcaps include an inner portion and an outer portion that can rotate with respect to one another to enable the tube to be rotated and the light dispersed therefrom to be focused.

LED retrofit luminaire tubes

An LED luminaires power supply that isolates dangerous line power from the LED luminaires. The power supply's footprint may enable retrofitting in existing lighting fixtures (e.g., replace ballast in florescent tube troffer). The power supply may individually power a plurality of LED luminaires based on power requirements of the individual LED luminaires. The power supply may receive and interpret TRIAC dimmer signals and/or other lighting protocol commands and provide dimming and/or other lighting scenarios to the LED luminaires. The power supply may include identification readers to read identification and/or power requirements for the LED luminaires being powered thereby (stored in luminaires or in adapters connected to luminaires). The LED luminaires driven by the power supply may include individual lighting fixtures (e.g., LED tubes, LED bulbs), a plurality of LED light arrays in a single light fixture (e.g., LED street lights, LED high hats), or some combination thereof.

An internal combustion engine is analyzed by an apparatus having a data processing capability. The engine has a plurality of cylinders and a battery operative to power a starter motor. The apparatus measures a time dependence of voltage level or current draw at the battery while the engine is being cranked by the starter motor. The apparatus also measures a respective time dependence of pressure at each of one or more locations in the engine. From the measured time dependence of voltage level or current draw, the apparatus determines a respective value indicative of a compression for each of the plurality of cylinders. Furthermore, the apparatus determines the presence or absence of one or more defects in the engine from the one or more measured time dependences of pressure.

Methods and apparatus for analyzing internal combustion engines

A method and system for accurate timing in a low current system useful in fuzing applications generates a first count of oscillations of an oscillator of unknown frequency during a first period of unknown duration. A second count of oscillations of the oscillator is generated during a second period of a known duration. The duration of the first period is calculated based on the first count and the second count. A solid-state, thin-film battery is able to be used by virtue of low-current characteristics of the system, enabling extended shelf life for fuzing systems.

Low current microcontroller circuit

A digital media communications and control system includes a plurality of audio devices each of which includes a device interface module for communication of digital media data and control data from at least one of the devices to at least one other of the devices. A universal data link is operatively connected to each of the device interface modules. The device interface modules and universal data links are operative in combination to connect the devices together in the system and provide full duplex communication of the digital media data and control data between the devices.

Universal digital media communications and control system and method

An audio communications and control system includes a plurality of audio devices each of which includes a device interface module for communication of digital audio data and control data from at least one of the devices to at least one other of the devices. A universal data link is operatively connected to each of the device interface modules. The device interface modules and universal data links are operative in combination to connect the devices together in the system and provide full duplex communication of the digital audio data and control data between the devices.
