The disclosed invention relates to a biodegradable grease composition. The grease composition comprises the reaction product of a dispersion of metal oxide and/or hydroxide particulates with at least one animal or vegetable oil. The dispersion comprises an organic medium and has a water content of up to about 0.5% by weight water. The particulates have a mean particle size up to about 15 microns. A process for making a grease composition using a dispersion of metal oxide and/or hydroxide particulates is disclosed.

Grease composition

A grease composition containing: (a) the reaction product of: (i) a calcium containing overbased organic acid; and (ii) at least one acid producing compound or derivatives thereof selected from the group consisting of: (1) a non-polymeric hydrocarbyl substituted dicarbonyl derivative selected from the group consisting of an acid, an ester, a salt, an anhydride, ester-acid, acid-salt and mixtures thereof; (2) a copolymer derived from monomers containing (1) an olefin; and (2) an unsaturated dicarboxylic acid anhydride or derivatives thereof; and (3) an inorganic acid containing about 2 or more acidic hydrogens; and (b) an oil of lubricating viscosity, wherein the overbased calcium sulphonate contains colloidally dispersed calcium carbonate is selected from the group consisting of calcite, vaterite and mixtures thereof. The invention further relates to the process to make the composition and its use in greases to increase water resistance.

Functionalized polymer composition for grease

A liquid extreme pressure agent for use in lubricating compositions where the lubricating compositions comprise an oil of lubricating viscosity and the reaction product of: (a) a thiazole; (b) a composition comprising a carboxylic acid, a phosphorus containing acid or salt, or combinations thereof; and (c) an amine containing one or more branched hydrocarbyl groups. The invention also provides an additive composition comprising the reaction product described above and a process for making lubricating compositions, including greases, from the reaction product.

This invention relates to copper-containing organometallic complexes, and to concentrates and diesel fuels containing said complexes. The diesel fuels are useful with diesel engines equipped with exhaust system particulate traps. The copper-containing organometallic complex is used for lowering the ignition temperature of exhaust particles collected in the trap. The copper-containing organometallic complex is soluble or stably dispersible in the diesel fuel and is derived from (i) an organic compound containing at least two functional groups attached to a hydrocarbon linkage, and (ii) a copper-containing metal reactant capable of forming a complex with the organic compound (i).
