An electronic watch may include a housing and a crown configured to receive a rotational input. The crown may include a knob external to the housing, a rotor coupled to the knob and configured to rotate in response to the rotational input, the rotor defining a recess extending about a circumference of the rotor, and a coating positioned in the recess and configured to reflect at least a portion of light incident on the coating. The electronic watch may further include an optical sensing system configured to detect the rotational input using the reflected portion of the light.

A portable electronic device can include a housing that at least partially defines an internal volume and an external surface of the device. The housing can include an electromagnetically transparent portion that partially defines the exterior surface. The portable electronic device can include an antenna disposed in the internal volume and a sensing circuit disposed in the internal volume to receive a signal transmitted from the antenna.

Methods for chemically strengthening a cover for an electronic are disclosed. The methods include removing material from a mounting surface of the cover to counteract warping of the mounting surface due to ion exchange. The chemically strengthened covers have a high bend strength and allow a strong seal to be formed between the cover and an enclosure component.

The display may have an array of pixels configured to display an image. A border region such as a ring-shaped border may run along the outermost peripheral edge of the array of pixels. The display may be covered by a transparent display cover layer. The transparent display cover layer may have opposing inner and outer surfaces. The inner surface may face the interior region of the device. A laser-marked light-scattering structure may be embedded within an interior portion of the display cover layer between the inner and outer surfaces. The light-scattering structure may be located in the border region and may be illuminated by a light-emitting device.

A combination of versatile and inexpensive elements are combined on site to create an impermeable assembly which collects water falling through a grating or cracks between adjacent boards of a deck and completely drains it to one or more points at a selected edge. The impermeable assembly is comprised of a plurality of peaks and valleys configured to simplify installation, conserve headroom and provide an aesthetically pleasing finished surface. In a first embodiment, a collector collects the water falling through cracks between boards spanning the space between adjacent joists from which it drains transversely to a gutter positioned beneath the joists. The gutter drains the water longitudinally to the perimeter of the deck.

A hanging device for suspending one or more implements which have either elongated generally straight handles or body portions. The device includes one or a plurality of rings or annular members each having a central open area. Each ring is attached to one end of a length of flexible cord, string, cable and the like at a peripheral point of each ring. Each ring, when the other end of each cord is attached to an overhead support, will hang downwardly edgewise when not in use. An implement may be suspended for above ground or floor surface storage in a generally upright, freely swingable fashion by first passing the handle or body portion into the central open area of one ring, the central open area being somewhat larger than a diameter or thickness of the handle or body portion. By then allowing the handle or body portion to simply move by gravity into a generally upright orientation, the ring automatically moves into a canted position with respect to the handle or body portion and frictionally or penetratingly engages to hold and suspend the implement.

Decorative wall covering panels are disclosed which sealingly fit against a wall and thereby protect the wall surface from the deteriorating effects of weather. Horizontally and vertically abutting panels which simulate real shingles, such as cedar shake shingles, overlap each other on all edges when installed. Sealing surfaces are provided around the periphery of the inside surface of the panels. The fitting arrangement of the overlapping edges between panels serves to make and maintain the seals between the panels and the wall.

Disclosed is a constant contact panel interlock even during thermal expansion and contraction by providing flexible pins to bear on a tongue in a tongue and groove interlock and also by providing ramps for a bendable flange to slide over and bear on. Further, a material made of polypropylene with 20% calcium carbonate filler is used to form the panels, such material being sufficiently flexible at the temperatures common for panels exposed to direct sunlight (as on a roof or wall) to permit the pins or flange to bend without breaking and also being a material of much lower coefficient of expansion than pure polypropylene.
