A sigmoid notch resurfacing prosthesis for application to the sigmoid notch of the distal radius. The sigmoid notch prosthesis generally includes a saddle and a radius portion for attachment to the distal radius. The saddle may be formed from ultra high molecular weight polyethylene or another durable self-lubricating material. The saddle includes an at least partially concave contoured depression having rounded edges that is securable to the radius portion. The saddle may be secured by a sliding notch snap fit design. The prosthesis may be adapted for articulation with the natural head of the ulna or with an ulnar head prosthesis that has replaced the ulnar head.

A first carpometacarpal joint implant. One embodiment of the invention includes proximal and distal components. The proximal component includes a fixation portion for attachment to one or more elements of a patient's distal carpal row, a ball-type joint portion cantilevered off the fixation portion, and a skid having a concave surface opposite the ball-type joint for engaging a patient's scaphoid bone. The distal component has a fixation portion for attachment to a patient's thumb metacarpal, and a socket-type joint portion that cooperates with the ball-type joint portion of the proximal component.

Disclosed is a method and apparatus for repeatably positioning a forearm at a plurality of angular positions for medical analysis. A forearm of a patient is positioned in a support channel within reach of a rotatable handle. The handle can be locked in a number of angular positions, providing a counteractive force as the handle is rotated. The patient rotates and applies a torque force to the handle at selected rotational angles. The forearm and wrist can be scanned in these locked position, and applied torque can be measured to evaluate joint stability.

Method and apparatus for positioning a forearm for imaging and analysis

An anatomical prosthesis for implantation after a resection of the distal ulna includes a head and a stem. The head is formed with a curved surface for articulation with the sigmoid notch of the distal radius. A bore is provided in the head to allow for attachment of the head to the stem. The head is further formed with suture holes for anchoring the head to the soft tissues such as the ulnar collateral capsule, the triangular fibrocartilage and the extensor carpi ulnaris subsheath that are exposed after resection of the distal ulna. The stem is elongated, having a proximal end for engagement with the intramedullary canal of the ulna, and a distal end for engagement with the bore formed in the head.
