A system and methods for managing nodes of a synchronous communication conference are disclosed. In some embodiments, the system includes one or more processors that receive a mute request from a second conferencing node to mute a first synchronous communication data stream designated for transmission to a first conferencing node. The one or more processors generate a mute authorization request for requesting authorization for the mute request from a third conferencing node and transmit the mute authorization request to the third conferencing node for display by the third conferencing node.

Managing nodes of a synchronous communication conference

A system and methods for managing nodes of a synchronous communication conference are disclosed. In some embodiments, the system includes one or more processors that receive a mute request to mute a first conferencing node. A connected group of users is associated with two or more second conferencing nodes and the two or more second conferencing nodes do not include the first conferencing node. The one or more processors transmit a mute authorization request to at least one conferencing node of the two or more second conferencing nodes associated with the connected group of users. The one or more processors receive a mute authorization response from the at least one conferencing node of the two or more second conferencing nodes and mute a first synchronous communication data stream designated for transmission to the first conferencing node based at least in part on the mute request and the mute authorization response.

Examples of embodiments provide systems and methods for varying the functions of an electronic device according to a physical relationship (e.g. the distance) between the electronic device and the primary user (e.g., owner) of the electronic device. The device may measure the distance using a wireless signal from a secondary device carried by or associated with the primary user. In some embodiments, the electronic device may change its functions based on its environment, in combination with the distance between the electronic device and the primary user. Environmental factors may include the device's location, the device's velocity, and the date and time of day.

In one embodiment, a method includes recognizing at least one person in the at least one photo associated with a target user in a social network system, where the recognizing is based at least in part on social relevance. The method also includes creating a group in the social network system, where the group includes the at least one person recognized in the at least one photo. The method also includes associating the group with the target user.

Methods and systems for generating playlists of media items with audio data are disclosed. Based on two received feature sets, media items corresponding to each feature set are identified. Transition characteristics are also received. Based on the identified media items and transition characteristics, a dynamic playlist is generated that transitions from media items having characteristics of the first feature set to media items having characteristics of the second feature set. Each time the playlist is generated, it may include a different set of media items.

System and method for dynamic, feature-based playlist generation

Methods and systems for determining that a device is currently within a given context are described. A device may include multiple sensors coupled to the device. A sensor utility value combining a rate of power consumption for a sensor and an accuracy score indicating a degree to which the sensor may provide outputs indicative of the device being currently in the given context may be determined for each sensor. Based on sensor utility values, the multiple sensors coupled to the device may be ranked. A sensor may be identified based on a ranking of the sensor. A probability associated with a determination that the device is currently within the given context may be assigned to the sensor. More sensors may be identified to determine with increasing probability and increasing power requirements that the device is currently within the given context.
