A system and method for transient satellite doppler signal position determination by receiving multiple measured signals, determining transmission characteristics for those signals, determining orbital characteristics of satellites associated with those signals via a Doppler calculation, identifying the satellites from the transmission and orbital characteristics, determining a closest approach point responsive to identifying the satellites and the Doppler calculations, determining current positions of the satellites relative to the receiver from the closest approach point determinations via comparison to an orbital location-defining modeling equation associated with the first satellite, and determining a geolocation of the receiver responsive to each of the current position of the satellites relative to the receiver.

A propeller system including a propeller including a central attachment member and a plurality of blade apparatuses, each including a blade body attached to the central attachment member and a magnetic coupling member attached to a radially outward end of the blade body. The propeller system further comprises a propeller frame configured to at least partially circumscribe the magnetic coupling member of each blade apparatus and a plurality of electromagnets positioned on the propeller frame and operable to generate magnetic fields to suspend the magnetic coupling members, laterally translate the magnetic coupling members, rotate the magnetic coupling members along the radial axis of the propeller system, thereby rotating the blade bodies.

An energy storage apparatus including a spherical rotating member having permanent magnets and uniquely-identifiable location-defining elements, a plurality of coils, a controller operably coupled to the plurality of coils, a power source, and a location sensing apparatus operable to detect the plurality of location-defining elements. The controller may compare time-sequential information from the location sensing apparatus to determine a rotational axis and a rotational speed of the rotating member, operate the coils to change the rotational axis speed of the rotating member, increase energy stored by the rotating member by increasing the rotational speed by operating the coils to generate magnetic fields that interact with the permanent magnets, and withdraw energy by operating the coils to generate magnetic fields that interact with the magnetic fields of the permanent magnets to produce induced current in the coils and directing the induced current to a power delivery location.

A propeller system with directional thrust control comprising a hub, a plurality of blade attachment apparatuses attached to the hub, and a plurality of blades, each blade of the plurality of blades being attached to a blade attachment apparatus of the plurality of blade attachment apparatuses. The hub is operable to rotate about a rotation axis thereof. The plurality of blades is attached to the hub via the plurality of blade attachment apparatuses such that the plurality of blades rotates about the rotation axis of the hub when the hub rotates about the rotation axis thereof. Each blade attachment apparatus of the plurality of blade attachment apparatuses is operable to rotate the blade attached thereto about a blade rotation axis.

A luminaire comprising a heat sink, a light source and a light guide. The light source is carried by the heat sink and configured to emit a source light. The light source includes a heat spreader having an inner surface and an outer surface, and a plurality of light-emitting diodes (LEDs) carried by a circuit board and disposed generally along an outer peripheral perimeter portion of the inner surface of the heat spreader, and positioned in thermal communication with the heat spreader. The light guide includes a lens with a plurality of optical elements disposed within the lens.

Light guide for low profile luminaire

A luminaire comprising a heat sink, a light source to emit a source light, a heat spreader having inner and outer surfaces, and LEDs carried by a circuit board and disposed generally along a periphery of the inner surface and positioned in thermal communication therewith. The luminaire comprises a reflector disposed coextensively with the LEDs and comprising an aperture. An outer edge of the aperture defines an inner rim of the reflector. A light guide positioned between the reflector and the light source exhibits a height defined as the distance between the inner surface of the heat spreader and a plane defined by the inner rim of the reflector. The light guide comprises deformations and/or lens portions configured to change the source light into a shaped light that is directed through the aperture. The deformations are characterized by a common shape positioned about a center of the light guide.

A lighting device has a base, an optic defining an optical chamber, a driver circuit positioned in electrical communication with the base, and a flexible circuit board positioned within the optical chamber along and generally circumscribing a longitudinal axis of the optical chamber and in electrical communication with the driver circuit. The flexible circuit board may comprise a plurality of longitudinal sections. Each longitudinal section may comprise a first inclined section, a second inclined section, and a plurality of light-emitting diodes (LEDs). The first inclined section may be positioned in the direction of the base relative to the second inclined section. The lighting device may further include a longitudinal translation device to translate longitudinally part of the flexible circuit board.

A method of assembling a lighting device that has a base, an optic defining an optical chamber, a driver circuit positioned in electrical communication with the base, and a flexible circuit board positioned within the optical chamber along and generally circumscribing a longitudinal axis of the optical chamber and in electrical communication with the driver circuit. The flexible circuit board may comprise a plurality of longitudinal sections. Each longitudinal section may comprise a first inclined section, a second inclined section, and a plurality of light-emitting diodes (LEDs). The first inclined section may be positioned in the direction of the base relative to the second inclined section. The lighting device may further include a longitudinal translation device to translate longitudinally part of the flexible circuit board.

An edge lit lighting device including a housing, a power circuit, a light source, and an optic. The power circuit may be carried by the housing, and adapted to form an electrical connection with an external power source. The light source may be carried by the housing and electrically connected to the power circuit. The optic may be carried by the housing and positioned in optical communication with the light source. The optic may further include a receiving surface positioned adjacent to the light source, and first and second emitting surfaces. The first emitting surface may include a plurality of features configured to redirect light defined as redirected light in a direction of the second emitting surface, the redirected light being emitted from the second emitting surface. The lighting device may further include pluralities of optics of light sources.

The luminaire comprises a reflector disposed coextensively with the LEDs and comprising an aperture in a medial region thereof, an outer edge of the aperture defining an inner rim of the reflector and a light guide positioned between the reflector and the light source, the light guide characterized by a height defined as the distance between the inner surface of the heat spreader and a plane defined by the inner rim of the reflector, the light guide configured to change the source light into a shaped light that is directed through the aperture.

A modular segmented street lighting device comprises an attaching member that is attachable to a street lamp pole, the attaching member comprising an electrical connector adapted to be electrically coupled to a power source associated with the street lamp pole. The modular segmented street lighting device also includes a docking member that is removably attachable to the attaching member, and comprises a power supply unit, and a load member that is removably attachable the attaching member and/or the docking member. The docking member is adapted to electrically couple the power supply unit to the electrical connector of the attaching member when the docking member is attached to the attaching member. The load member is adapted to electrically couple the lighting device to the power supply unit when the load member is attached to the attaching member and/or the docking member.
