An expandable annular barrier has a tubular metal part for mounting as part of the well tubular metal structure, the tubular metal part having a bore with a bore pressure, and an expandable metal sleeve surrounding the tubular metal part. The annular barrier has a pressure-intensifying unit for increasing the pressure of the fluid from the annulus or the bore before the fluid enters an expandable space, and an activation chamber having a chamber pressure and being fluidly connected to an opening of the pressure-intensifying unit in order to create a pressure difference between the annulus pressure/the bore pressure and the chamber pressure for activating the pressure-intensifying unit to increase the pressure of the fluid. The chamber pressure can be higher or lower than the annulus pressure or the bore pressure.

Annular barrier and downhole system

The present invention relates to a downhole production casing string for insertion in a borehole in a reservoir, the downhole production casing string having a first end nearest a top of the borehole and a second end furthest away from the top, the downhole production casing string extending along a longitudinal axis and comprising at least one opening which during production allows hydrocarbon-containing fluid from the reservoir into the downhole production casing string, a plurality of casing parts having end sections and a base section between the end sections, the base section having an outer diameter, and at least one annular projecting element having an outer face and at least one helical groove arranged in or on the outer face and having an overall outer diameter which is larger than the outer diameter of the base section. Furthermore, the invention relates to a downhole production casing string system for completing a well downhole and to a method of implementing a production casing string according to the invention.

Downhole production casing string

The present invention relates to a downhole expandable metal tubular having an axial extension, to be expanded in a well downhole to abut against an inner face of a casing or a borehole, comprising a first section having a first outer diameter, two circumferential projections having a second outer diameter which is larger than the first outer diameter, a second section arranged between the two projections, each projection having an inclined face tapering from the second outer diameter towards the second section, wherein the second section has a third outer diameter which is smaller than the first outer diameter in an unexpanded condition, and a sealing element is arranged between the projections opposite the second section, so that during expansion the second section bulges more radially outwards than the first section, forcing the sealing element radially outwards. Furthermore, the present invention relates to an annular barrier, a downhole completion and a sealing expansion method.

Downhole expandable metal tubular

An annular barrier for providing zonal includes a tubular metal part, and an expandable metal sleeve surrounding the tubular metal part. The expandable metal sleeve has a first end part, a second end part and an outer face, and at least one of the end parts includes at least one circumferential groove facing the outer part face, wherein the tubular metal part bulges radially outwards in relation to the axial extension, forming at least one circumferential projection engaging the groove, thus providing a connection of the expandable metal sleeve to the tubular metal part.

The present invention relates to a drill pipe expansion assembly () for expansion of a completion component () located at a fixed position in a well () having a longitudinal axis (), the drill pipe expansion assembly comprising an expansion unit () which is moveable in relation to the completion component comprising a tubular element () comprising a first end () and a second end () and a wall () having an outer face () and an outlet () for ejection of pressurised fluid, and a first sealing element () and a second sealing element () arranged on the outer face on each side of the outlet, and a positioning unit () comprising a body () and a first fixation element () movable between a projected position and a retracted position in relation to the body, the positioning unit being connected with the tubular element in order to maintain the expansion unit in a fixed position in relation to the completion component () during expansion. The present invention further relates to a downhole system.

Expansion assembly

An annular barrier configured to be arranged on an outer face of a well tubular metal structure for providing zonal isolation in an annulus downhole, includes an annular space defined by a first expandable metal sleeve part and a second expandable metal sleeve part. The first expandable metal sleeve part having an outer face configured to face away from the outer face of the well tubular metal structure and the second expandable metal sleeve part having an outer face configured to face the outer face of the well tubular metal structure when arranged around the well tubular metal structure. The annular barrier further includes a first inner annular sealing element arranged on the outer face of the second expandable metal sleeve part configured to seal between the second expandable metal sleeve part and the well tubular metal structure.

The present invention relates to an annular barrier system for completing a well with a well tubular metal structure, comprising the well tubular metal structure and a first annular barrier and a second annular barrier, each annular barrier comprising a tubular metal part having a bore and mounted as part of the well tubular metal structure, an expandable metal sleeve surrounding the tubular metal part, each end of the expandable metal sleeve being connected with the tubular metal part, and an annular space between the expandable metal sleeve and the tubular metal part, each annular barrier being introduced and set in the well to abut a wall of the well, providing a confined space having a confined pressure Pc between the wall, part of the well tubular metal structure, the first annular barrier and the second annular barrier, so that the first annular barrier isolates the confined space from a first annulus having a first pressure, and the second annular barrier isolates the confined space from a second annulus having a second pressure, wherein the annular barrier system comprises a valve system having a first position in which the bore is in fluid communication with the annular space of at least one of the first annular barrier and the second annular barrier in order to expand the expandable metal sleeve, and a second position in which the bore is in fluid communication with the confined space in order to perform barrier verification by pressurising the confined space.

A downhole system for completing a well includes a well tubular metal structure including an inside having an inside pressure, an opening and an axial extension, and a sliding sleeve movable along the axial extension between a first position in which the sliding sleeve seals off the opening and a second position in which fluid communication between the borehole and the inside of the well tubular metal structure is allowed. The sliding sleeve has a first sealing element arranged on one side of the opening and a second sealing element arranged on the other side of the opening in the first position A pressure reducing mechanism is arranged in relation to the first sealing element for reducing a pressure exerted on the first sealing element while moving the sliding sleeve from the first position to the second position.

The present invention relates to an annular barrier system for completing a well with a well tubular metal structure, comprising the well tubular metal structure comprising a first annular barrier and a second annular barrier, each annular barrier being introduced and set in the well to abut a wall of the well providing a confined space having a confined pressure between the wall, part of the well tubular metal structure, the first annular barrier and the second annular barrier, so that the first annular barrier isolates the confined space from a first annulus having a first pressure and the second annular barrier isolates the confined space from a second annulus having a second pressure, wherein the annular barrier system comprises a pressure equalising unit having a first position in which the first annulus is in fluid communication with the confined space and a second position in which the second annulus is in fluid communication with the confined space, in the first position the second pressure is higher than the first pressure, and in the second position the first pressure is higher than the second pressure.

The present invention relates to an annular barrier to be expanded in an annulus between a well tubular metal structure and a wall of a borehole or another well tubular metal structure in a well in order to provide zone isolation between a first zone having a first pressure and a second zone having a second pressure of the borehole, the annular barrier comprising a tubular metal part adapted to be mounted as part of the well tubular metal structure, an expandable metal sleeve surrounding the tubular metal part, each end of the expandable metal sleeve being connected with the tubular metal part defining an annular space between the expandable metal sleeve and the tubular metal part. The annular barrier further comprises a valve unit having an initial position and an end position, the valve unit comprising a first aperture in fluid communication with the inside, a second aperture in fluid communication with the annular space, a third aperture in fluid communication with the annulus. The invention also relates to a downhole system comprising a well tubular metal structure and an annular barrier in which the tubular metal part of the annular barrier is mounted as part of the well tubular well tubular metal structure.

Annular barrier with valve unit

An annular barrier is expandable in an annulus between a well tubular structure and an inside wall of a borehole downhole for providing zone isolation between a first zone and a second zone of the borehole. The annular barrier has a tubular part for mounting as part of the well tubular structure, an expandable metal sleeve surrounding the tubular part and having an inner face facing the tubular part and an outer face facing towards the inside wall of the borehole, each end of the expandable metal sleeve being connected with a connection part which is connected with the tubular part, a space between the inner face of the expandable metal sleeve and the tubular part, and an expansion opening in the tubular part through which fluid may enter into the space in order to expand the expandable metal sleeve. The annular barrier also has a first safety metal sleeve surrounding the tubular part and abutting the expandable metal sleeve and the first safety metal sleeve having a first inner face abutting the face of the expandable metal sleeve, each end of the first safety metal sleeve being connected with the connection part which is connected with the tubular part.

The present invention relates to an annular barrier for being mounted as part of a well tubular metal structure for providing zonal isolation in a small diameter borehole downhole for isolating a first zone from a second zone, comprising an expandable metal sleeve having a first end and a second end and an outer face facing the borehole, a first end part having a first end connected to the first end of the expandable metal sleeve and a second end for being mounted as part of the well tubular structure, a second end part having a first end connected to the second end of the expandable metal sleeve and a second end for being mounted as part of the well tubular structure, wherein the first end of the first end part is connected end to end to the first end of the expandable metal sleeve, and the first end of the second end part is connected end to end to the second end of the expandable metal sleeve, and wherein the second ends of the end parts are provided with male or female thread connections for being mounted to corresponding male or female thread connections of the well tubular metal structure. The present invention also relates to a well tubular metal structure having a plurality of tubular sections and at least one annular barrier according to the present invention, and to a completion method of preparing an annular barrier according to the present invention.

Annular barrier for small diameter wells

The present invention relates to a downhole well tubular structure configured to be arranged in a borehole in a formation, comprising a well tubular part having an opening and an inner face, the well tubular part having an axial extension, a first sleeve configured to slide within the well tubular part along at least part of the inner face, the first sleeve having a first end face and a second end face, the first sleeve having a first sleeve groove facing away from the well tubular part, the first sleeve groove of the first sleeve having a first groove face extending radially and facing away from the first end face, and the first sleeve groove of the first sleeve having a second groove face inclining away from the first groove face, wherein the well tubular part has a first inclined face facing the first end face of the first sleeve, the first inclined face inclining from the inner face away from the first sleeve, wherein the well tubular part comprises a second inclined face facing the first inclined face, the second inclined face inclining from the inner face away from the first sleeve, and the first sleeve is configured to slide towards the first inclined face while uncovering or covering the opening. The present invention also relates to a downhole system comprising a downhole well tubular structure according to the present invention and to a sleeve operating method for uncovering or covering an opening in the downhole well tubular structure according to the present invention.

A drill string has a first part and a second part closer to a top of the well. The first part has a drilling head and an annular barrier with a tubular metal part, an expandable metal sleeve and an annular space between the inner face of the expandable metal sleeve and the tubular metal part. Drilling is commenced and then stopped when a loss of formation pressure is detected. A ball is dropped into the drill string and the drill string is pressurized. The expandable metal sleeve is expanded with pressure until the expandable metal sleeve abuts the inner face of the borehole. The second part of the drill string is separated from the first part and pulled out of the borehole. Cement is injected into the borehole above the first part to provide a cement plug above the first part.
