A method implemented by a central controller is provided. The method includes receiving traffic monitoring information from a client, and sending a traffic monitor request to a network controller, the traffic monitor request requesting the network controller to monitor one or more traffic parameters based on the traffic monitoring information. The method further includes receiving a traffic report from the network controller, and responsive to determining that a monitored traffic parameter in the traffic report does not satisfy a condition specified by the traffic monitoring information, initiating a scaling operation based on data contained in the traffic report.

Telemetry aggregation and network autonomic scaling

A customer network controller (CNC) including a processor and a memory. The processor is configured to use a virtual private network (VPN)-specific service model for a VPN service and map the VPN-specific service model to one or more traffic engineering (TE)-specific parameters. The memory is coupled to the processor and configured to store a mapping between a VPN identification (ID) of the VPN service corresponding to the VPN-specific service model and a tunnel ID of either an existing TE tunnel or newly-established TE tunnel for the VPN service. The existing TE tunnel or the newly established TE tunnel satisfies the one or more TE-specific parameters.

Traffic engineering service mapping

A method and system for application-driven proactive multi-stratum resource monitoring in software defined networks (SDN). A Cross-Stratum Optimization (CSO) service orchestrator obtains a service intent, a notification subscription, and a programmable performance rule specified by an application. The CSO service orchestrator collects streaming performance data in a network based on the notification subscription, evaluates performance of the network using the collected data and the programmable performance rule, and allocates one or more of storage, computer, and network resources based on the evaluation to ensure quality of service for the application.

Application-driven cross-stratum resource monitoring

A computer implemented method of configuring an optical path includes selecting with one or more processors a wavelength for the optical path, generating with one or more processors, a first request for a first type of node in the optical path, generating with one or more processors a second request for a second type of node in the optical path, the second type of node having different data plane capabilities than the first type of node, wherein the first and second requests are generated as a function of a joint configuration model accommodating both types of nodes, and sending the first request from the one or more processors to the first type of node and the second request to the second type of node to configure the optical path.

Configuring optical networks using a joint configuration model

A CNC includes a processor configured to import a VPN-specific service model for a VPN service and map the VPN-specific service model to one or more TE-specific parameters. The CNC includes a memory coupled to the processor and configured to store a mapping between a VPN ID of the VPN service and a tunnel ID of a TE tunnel established for the VPN service. The TE tunnel satisfies the one or more TE-specific parameters.
