Disclosed herein is an implantable electronic device. In one embodiment, the device has a modular header-feedthru assembly and a housing. The modular header-feedthru assembly has a conductor assembly, a feedthru coupled to the conductor assembly, and a polymer header that is injected molded about the conductor assembly and at least a portion of the feedthru. The housing is welded to the feedthru.

Implantable medical device with modular injection molded header assembly and related methods of manufacture

A device and method for manufacturing an implantable cardiac monitor device are provided. The method joins a feed-through assembly to a device housing having electronic components therein. The feed-through assembly includes conductors having distal ends connected to the electronic components and has proximal ends projecting from the feed-through assembly. The method assembles a header having a sensing electrode and an antenna embedded within a non-conductive header body. The electrode and antenna includes corresponding interconnection plates. The header body includes a housing mounting surface that includes at least one passage aligned with an interconnect cavity that includes the interconnection plates. The header body further includes a window exposing the interconnect cavity and interconnect regions. The method further directs the proximal ends of the conductors through the passage to align with the interconnect regions and secures the proximal ends and the interconnect regions to one another through the window.

Method for manufacturing implantable device header with embedded sensor and antenna

An implantable cardiac monitoring device and method of manufacture are provided. The device comprises a device housing having electronic components therein. A feedthrough assembly is joined to the device housing. The device comprises an antenna. A header body is mounted to the device housing and encloses the antenna and feedthrough assembly. The antenna includes a pin mounting section and a plate shaped radiating section. The pin mounting and radiating sections are interconnected by a ribbon section having a predetermined length to at least partially tune the antenna to a communication frequency. The radiating section is positioned proximate to, and shaped to extend along, an outer surface of the header body.

The device includes radio frequency (RF) communication components installed within a case of the device and an antenna with an inverted E shape mounted within a header of the device. The antenna has three branches extending from a main arm: a capacitive branch connecting one end of the main arm to the case; an RF signal feed branch connecting a middle portion of the main arm to the internal RF components of the device via a feedthrough; and an inductive branch connecting the opposing (far) end of the main arm to the case to provide a shunt to ground.

The device includes radio frequency (RF) communication components installed within a case of the device and an antenna with an inverted E shape mounted within a header of the device. The antenna has three branches extending from a main horizontal arm: a capacitive branch connecting one end of the main arm to the case via a capacitive load; an RF signal feed branch connecting a middle portion of the main arm to the internal RF components of the device via a feedthrough; and an inductive branch connecting the opposing (far) end of the main arm to the case to provide a shunt to ground. The E-shaped configuration and the provision of capacitive loading allows for cancellation of inductance to bring the antenna into resonance and to provide optimal radiation efficiency as well as to provide for impedance with no reactive component.

Disclosed herein is an implantable pulse generator feedthru configured to make generally planar electrical contact with an electrical component housed within a can of an implantable pulse generator. The feedthru may include a feedthru housing including a header side and a can side, a core within the feedthru housing, a generally planar electrically conductive interface adjacent the can side, and a feedthru wire extending through the core. The feedthru wire may include an interface end and a header end, wherein the header end extends from the header side and the interface end is at least one of generally flush with the generally planar interface and generally recessed relative to the generally planar interface.

Methods of manufacturing an implantable pulse generator

An implantable pulse generator includes a header, a can, a grouped array feedthru, and an inline array feedthru board. The feedthru includes a header side, a can side and a grouped array of feedthru wires extending through the feedthru. A first end of each feedthru wire is electrically coupled to a lead connector block. The inline array feedthru board includes a grouped array of first electrical contact holes and an inline array of conductor wires. The grouped array of first electrical contact holes receives therein second ends of the feedthru wires. The inline array of conductor wires projects from a side of the board opposite the feedthru. Each first electrical contact hole is in electrical communication with a respective conductor wire. Each conductor wire is in electrical contact with at least a portion of an electrical connection region of an electronic substrate housed within the can.

Implantable pulse generator feedthrus and methods of manufacture

A feedthrough filter capacitor assembly for an implantable medical device is provided. The assembly includes a conductive lead, a conductive tube coaxial with and insulated from at least a portion of the lead, a conductive substrate through which the lead and tube pass in non-conductive relation therewith, and a filter capacitor associated with each of the lead and tube. The coaxial design of the filter capacitor assembly increases the number of lead connections while minimizing the footprint of the existing feedthrough layout.

A feedthrough device includes a conductive ferrule having an outer peripheral surface defining the outermost boundary of the feedthrough device, an insulator, a lead wire electrically isolated from the ferrule extending through the insulator, a filter capacitor adjacent the insulator through which the lead wire extends in conductive relation therewith, and a ground wire coupled to the ferrule and to the insulator within the outermost boundary of the feedthrough device. The ferrule has an inner peripheral surface defining an opening therethrough and each of the insulator and the filter capacitor has an outer peripheral surface proximate the inner peripheral surface, a counterbore in the outer peripheral surface of each of the insulator and filter capacitor, an end of the ground wire being received in the counterbore and brazed to the ferrule and insulator. Alternatively, an end of the ground wire is welded to the inner peripheral surface of the ferrule.
