A filter assembly including a filter element having an extension of filter material potted in an end cap, the potting adhesive material potting the filtering material into the end cap and further adhering the end cap to a hub of a baffle plate. The end cap is an open end cap having an outer perimeter and an inner perimeter defined by a portion of the hub.

A filter support includes a tubular construction that has flow apertures, a top edge, an opposite bottom edge, and first and second side edges extending between the top and bottom edges. The first and second side edges oppose each other to form a seam region having a non-axial seam center line extending between the top edge and the bottom edge.

A filter arrangement is provided which includes preferred fluid sealing between a top plate thereof and a housing. Generally, the filter arrangement includes a housing, a top plate and an internal filter. The top plate encloses an end of the housing, retaining the filter therein and directing fluid flow appropriately across the filter. Engagement between the housing and the top plate is such that a gasket may be used to provide sealing of an operable combination of the filter arrangement with an associated filter head, with respect to flow space between the housing and top plate by means of a simple gasket position externally of the filter arrangement. Several embodiments have shown, and in at least one the housing edge terminates in a groove in the top plate, in which a sealing gasket may be positioned. Positive engagement between the top plate and the housing is provided by a variety of projection arrangements. Secure seating of a gasket with an assembly may be provided by a gasket-receiving groove in the top plate, by a pinch fold, or by a bracket attached to the housing.

Seal arrangement for fluid filters

An air cleaner including a plurality of regularly arranged vortex separators and a network of regularly arranged exhaust ducts is disclosed. The vortex separators include a restriction between vortex air and particulate laden scavengable air. The duct network includes a plurality of regularly arranged structural ducts extending between the spaced apart side plates which hold the vortex separators. The structural ducts are in fluid communication with the ducting network leading to a common output.

Air cleaner apparatus

An air filtering apparatus is disclosed having a housing defining a chamber with an air inlet and an air outlet. A filter assembly is disposed within the housing and is provided with a first cylindrical filter element and a second cylindrical filter element received within the first element and coaxially aligned. The first filter element and second filter element are supported with opposing surfaces of said elements defining an annular chamber. One axial end of the annular chamber is fixedly sealed and the second end of the axial chamber is provided with a sealing plate connected to a diaphragm for sealing the chamber in response to a suction applied to the second filter element. An impact cleaning mechanism is provided for impacting the second filter element and cleansing it when the annular chamber is exposed.
