A pushnut fastener having a substantially planar base portion from which a cylindrical sleeve is drawn and internally threaded. A pair of angled leg portions extending from opposing lateral edges of the base portion, each including a laterally extending tab partially extending into a space formed between said leg portions for engaging threads of a mating male fastener. The leg portions are preferably defined by inner and outer leg sections, each outer leg section including an inwardly angled section which engages the edges of a mounting hole of a panel into which the pushnut is seated during assembly.

Pushnut

A nut for interconnecting a pair of panel sheet components includes an upper and a lower nut plate. The upper nut plate includes a conical barrel portion to allow angled relative to a vertical axis of the assembly, the base plate having an axial clearance opening for accommodating a threaded fastener. The lower and upper nut plates are separated by a gap sized to accommodate one of the panel components therebetween, having a sized opening aligned with openings in the two sheets, with the barrel portion angled to facilitate assembly of the panel to a separate portion obliquely angled relative thereto. Preferably, the interconnecting portion includes a cutout portion to facilitate push-on of the assembly to a panel or sheet component with a portion of the clamping surfaces being raised with respect to the sheet component to minimize rotation of the nut during clamping.

Multi-threaded nut assembly having tilted barrel section

A pushnut fastener for use in conjunction with a cylindrical shaft having a pair of opposed flat surfaces extending therealong. The pushnut has an opening that complements the shape of the shaft and includes arcuate blades that are, in assembly, biased in contact with the arcuate surfaces of the shaft and straight blades that are biased in contact with the flat surfaces of the shaft. In a relaxed condition, the straight blades are generally parallel with the horizontally disposed base of the nut and the arcuate shaped blades are set at an angle of about 45.degree. with the base.
