A two or particularly three-phase process, and corresponding apparatus, desulfurizes sour hydrocarbon gas, e.g., natural gas, generally better than known, using a fixed-bed, two-phase processes in terms of the amount of HS scavenged and the breakthrough time of HS. The three-phase process is effective in scavenging HS at ambient temperature and pressure, using a copper salt catalyst impregnated on alumina or other generally inert support, which is regenerable.

A barite filter cake removing composition, and single- and multi-stage methods of removing a barite filter cake from a wellbore. The composition comprises at least one polymer removal agent, at least one chelating agent, and at least one converting agent. The single-stage method includes contacting the barite filter cake with the composition to dissolve the barite filter cake from the wellbore. The multi-stage method includes contacting the barite filter cake from the wellbore with at least one polymer removal agent to remove a polymer coat present on the barite filter cake, contacting the barite filter cake with at least one converting agent to convert barium sulfate in the barite filter cake to a barium salt of carbonate, formate, cyanide, nitrate, and/or chloride, and removing the barium salt of carbonate, formate, cyanide, nitrate, and/or chloride with at least one chelating agent.

Barite filter cake removing composition and method

A process for making a modified, mesoporous activated carbon material from waste oil fly ash. The process involves a physicochemical treatment of a raw waste oil fly ash sample, where the sample is initially refluxed in an acid solution, then activated at about 1000&#xb0; C. and in the presence of carbon dioxide. The activated carbon may be further functionalized with carboxylic and/or amine groups by refluxing the activated carbon in a second acid solution and/or an ammonia solution. The activated carbon, as prepared, has a BET surface area of 30-400 m/g, a total pore volume of 0.25-0.50 cm/g and an average pore size of 40-100 &#x212b;. A method for removing hydrogen sulfide from natural gas with the modified activated carbon is also provided.

A new adsorbent CO-ONE for removal of acidic gases such as carbon dioxide and hydrogen sulfide was developed from hydrothermal reaction of natural limestone with natural kaolin via sodium hydroxide. Several synthesis conditions were employed such as initial concentration of NaOH, weight ratio of limestone to kaolin, reaction temperature and pressure. The produced Ca&#x2014;Na&#x2014;SiO2&#x2014;Al2O3 samples were characterized using XRD and EDS and showed that a mixture of Gehlenite CaAl(ASiO)OHand Stilbite NaCa(AlSiO) with percentage of 43 and 57 was successfully produced, respectively. Another produced sample showed the presence of Gehlenite CaAl(AlSiO)OH, Stilbite NaCa(AlSiO) and Lawsonite CaAlSiOOH(HO) with percentage of 4.1 and 7.4 and 88, respectively.
