A base station includes an array of transceiver chains, each characterized by a bandwidth and including a transmit chain and a receive chain. The base station determines, at each center frequency and sub-bandwidth covering the bandwidth: a first set of interchain transmit gain and phase/delay differences across transmit chains; and a first set of interchain receive gain and phase/delay differences across the receive chains. The base station then determines, in a same manner as the first determining: a second set of inter-chain transmit differences; and a second set of inter-chain receive differences. The base station adjusts each transmit chain by the difference between the second set of inter-chain transmit differences and the first set of inter-chain transmit differences. The base station adjust each receive chain by the difference between the second set of inter-chain receive differences and the first set of inter-chain receive differences.

Beamforming calibration

Techniques and apparatus for efficiently performing rate selection and transmit gain selection are provided. The techniques may be performed, for example, by a transmitting entity in the absence of explicit MCS selection reporting by a receiving entity. One technique includes outputting first packets for transmission using a first modulation and coding scheme (MCS) value and via a transmit power amplifier (PA) configured according to a transmit gain parameter associated with the first MCS value. Feedback indicating whether the first packets have been received is obtained, a second MCS value for second packets is selected based on the feedback, and the transmit gain parameter is adjusted if one or more criteria are met. Second packets are output for transmission using the second MCS value and, thereafter, additional packets are output for transmission based on the first MCS value and the adjusted transmit gain parameter.

Transmitter link enhancement techniques

A technique is disclosed for reducing interference in a communication system including a plurality of wireless devices. A first device transmits an RTS-TRN frame including a Request to Send (RTS) portion and a first beam training sequence to determine whether a communication medium is available to communicate with a second device. If the communication medium is available, the second device transmits a CTS-TRN frame including a Clear to Send (CTS) portion and a second beam training sequence. One or more neighboring devices that receive the RTS-TRN frame and/or the CTS-TRN frame configure their respective antennas to generate one or more nulls aimed at the first and second devices when transmitting signals, as long as the first and second devices are communicating based on a duration field in the RTS-TRN frame and/or CTS-TRN frame. This reduces interference at the first and/or second devices.

System and method for reducing interference from neighboring wireless devices

Certain aspects of the present disclosure relate to techniques and apparatus for estimating a distance between a first and second apparatus. For example, the first apparatus may obtain a plurality of training signals received in a plurality of directions from a second apparatus and estimate, based on the plurality of training signals, a distance between the first apparatus and the second apparatus. In certain aspects, the distance may be estimated based on a ratio of receive powers of first and second training signals of the plurality of training signals.

Techniques for estimating distance between wireless communication devices

Certain aspects of the present disclosure provide an apparatus for wireless communications. The apparatus comprises an interface configured to output a first signal for transmission via at least one first antenna, to output a second signal for transmission via at least one second antenna, to receive the transmitted first signal via the at least one second antenna, and to receive the transmitted second signal via the at least one first antenna. The apparatus also comprises a processing system configured to measure a phase of the received first signal and a phase of the received second signal, to determine a phase correction for the at least one first antenna based on the measured phase of the received first signal and the measured phase of the received second signal, and to shift a phase of a transmit signal by the phase correction, wherein the interface is configured to output the transmit signal for transmission via the at least one first antenna after the transmit signal is phase shifted.

Full duplex technique

One aspect of this disclosure provides an apparatus for wireless communication. The apparatus comprises a plurality of antennas and a processing system. The processing system is configured to transmit a first signal to and receive a second signal from an wireless node via each of the antennas. The processing system is further configured to determine a plurality of distances between each of the plurality of antennas and the wireless node based on the signals. The processing system is also configured to identify a position of each of the antennas in relation to the wireless node based on a known distance between two antennas of the plurality of antennas in a pair and the determined distances. The processing system is further also configured to command a movement of the apparatus based, at least in part, on the identified positions.

Methods and apparatus for self-triangulation using millimeter wave system

A method for wireless communications is described herein according to certain aspects. The method comprises receiving interference from at least one interference source at each one of two or more polarizations, measuring a strength of the received interference at each one of the two or more polarizations, selecting one of the two or more polarizations based on the measured interference strengths, and communicating with a remote device using the selected one of the two or more polarizations.
