A phase lock loop (PLL) includes a phase detector configured to output a signal indicative of a phase difference between a reference signal and a feedback signal, a loop filter configured to filter an output of the phase detector, and a voltage-controlled oscillator (VCO) configured to output an oscillating signal having a frequency corresponding to an output of the loop filter. The PLL further includes a frequency divider configured to output the feedback signal by frequency dividing the oscillating signal output by the VCO, and a reset circuit configured to reset the frequency divider in an initialization mode such that a phase difference between the reference signal and the feedback signal corresponds to a lock angle of the PLL.

Phase lock loops (PLLS) and methods of initializing PLLS

A frequency multiplier circuit includes a frequency multiplier, a phase detector and a control circuit. The phase detector detects a difference between an input phase of an input to the frequency multiplier and an output phase of an output from the frequency multiplier. The control circuit is configured to maintain the output phase based on the difference detected by the phase detector.

Phase stabilization for a frequency multiplier

In one aspect, a signal path is described. The signal path has a nominal impedance over a specified bandwidth and interconnects a port of a microwave circuit package and a microwave component mounted in the microwave circuit package. The signal path includes an inductive transition and first and second capacitive structures. The inductive transition extends from a first point on the signal path to a second point on the signal path and has an excess impedance above the nominal impedance. The first and second capacitive structures respectively shunt the first and second points on the signal path to compensate the excess impedance of the inductive transition. The inductive transition and the first and second capacitive structures approximate a filter having an impedance substantially matching the nominal impedance over the specified bandwidth. In other aspects, a microwave circuit package that incorporates the above-described signal path and an interconnection method that includes forming the above-described signal path are described.
